Neighbor to the South here

Hey guys first time in the BC forum. I am in washington and would like to invite you all to check out our forum. I think you would have fun.

BTW
I am thinking of going to Kamloops this summer again (went 2 years ago and loved it as a family city> Is there any other cool places you would reccomend for a family with 1 3yo kid?

Kamloops is a pretty nice place to visit. Along the way if you take the toll road, the coquihalla, there is tons of neat little stops on the way there. Merritt is along the way and there is a bunch of country singer stuff there, im not exactly sure what. You guys have a pretty cool forum too, that placermike is quite the helpfull fella!

Merritt Mountain Music Festival, usually the middle of July. Big acts from recent years are Tim McGraw, Brooks and Dunn, Reba, ... A few different campsites at the same location, all catering to different demographics. There's a "wild drunken mudpit party" site, a "family" site, and a "fogey" site. Don't really mean much though, you park your camper or pitch your tent where ever you can, and walk to where you want.

You can go the the animal zoo in Kamloops and the water slide. They are great places. They had some grizz there last time I was through. I am not sure if the ski hill is open in the summer like the ones in the Okanagan, but you can usually mountain bike up there, with a bike attachment for your gaffer. The hill in the loops is Sunshine mountain I belive. There is also an air show at sometime in the summer that is a great thing for kids. My family went to it all the time when we were younger. They bring out a ton of military planes that are really cool to see. Kelowna is also nice for kids as there are a tone of great beaches. If you are going through the Okanagan, let me know cause I can fill you in on a ton of great places since that is where I grew up and still go all the time to visit family, and we have a 2 yr old daughter that likes to do kid things

1.5 hours to Kelowna with a big slow truck.

35 minutes with a fast Toyota Celica and only the testosterone that an 18 yr old redneck can have.

1.5 hours to Kelowna from WHERE? Merritt? Heck, my best time to Kamloops was 3 hours from White Rock. Hour to Hope, another hour to Merritt, another to Kamloops. Kelowna is an hour and a half in the other direction, and you gotta be movin'.

Sheldon, where in the Okanagan do you want to go? You can go from Kamloops to Kelowna via Vernon in 3 hours, or via Merritt in 2.5. Vernon way is "shorter", but long windy 2 lane highway for most of the way. And the thing about Vernon is it's right in the middle of Kamloops and Kelowna, but it's faster to get there through Kamloops.

That's where most of my familiarity is. I don't get to Penticton much. Haven't been there since I was a kid. But I remember it was really nice. Princeton was okay. Osooyoos (sp?), been years, can't remember. But Peachfest is supposed to be a wicked party. Just like Hawaii, everybody gets layed when they get there.

From Kamloops to Kelowna via Vernon is 1.5 hrs for me all the time. I have done the drive from here to Kelowna 45 times in 6 years. It is really boring now.
