You're going to have to bring all the engine computer and wiring on board also.

This seems like a lot of work. I'm neither a fan of nor do I dislike a '79 or similar vintage truck, but unless you've got some really, really exceptional truck here this is a collosal waste of effort and money.

LS(X) engines do not use the tradiotional chevy mount, so those mentined from advanced adapters will not work.
The electrical portion is actually pretty easy since the vehicle speed sensor is in the transmission, and not the rear axle.

Gotta love the 70's model, bro. Drop that chebbie power house in there! Just make sure to tell all the jerks you smoke it's a ford, and all the races you do lose it's a chebbie.

why ruin a good ford with a gm engine? keep the 351W and smoke all

besides you can rebuild the 351 for less than then the swap

I've read the entire thread in the 73-79 forum. Let's not relive it again, please. Like any other "other make" swap, conversion mounts will have to be made if not found aftermarket. I'd look in the Summit or PAW catalogs for your conversion mount. It'll probably look like a bent tube with the mounts welded on it(typically for hot rods). Measure your frame width at the mount location, and see if one from a catalog will fit. Then it's a matter of firewall and tranny hump clearance. Driveshaft might have to be made. The rest is trial and error. Exhaust may be an issue, too. Have yer welder ready.

Oh yeah, FWIW, I'm dropping a 302 into a mid 90's Skylark, as soon as the owner gives me the ok.

for the amount of money youd spend on the swap and the parts youd be ahead to just build the 351w into a 408 stroker, throw some aftermarket heads on, a nice carb intake and carb, good cam and valvetrane, and call it good... that way you dont have to mess with the tranny, mounts, or any customization beyond the engine.

oh, lets not go there either. I have a Ford magazine from 1988 that says Milford, but in actuality, M is half way between C and W.
