'56 F350 Hood ornament query

It isn't the eagle one that was mentioned a week or two ago but that thread reminded me of it. I have one that is kind of similiar I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them. It has a number on the bottom: 3731752. It is over a foot long and roughly a foot wide from wing tip to wing tip. Here are a few pics I snapped:

Try looking here, http://www.lepoix.de/ It is a hood ornament page with lots of photos. Looks like yours is off a '56 Chevy.

Ewww, thanks for the link. Looks just like it. I figured it was just some third party aftermarket thing. I might have to venture into a chevy site now "shudder".

Pot metal parts like this CHEVROLET EAGLE HEAD PASSENGER CAR hood ornament all have numbers on them. Chevrolet's from 1932 thru the 1950's used some sort of eagle motif on hood ornaments. The 1949/52 Chevy ornaments that come with the cars are rather bland, and don't resemble anything, but the extra cost optional hood ornaments are quite striking.

The Ford marked parts will have a prefix - basic engineering number - suffix. Example: BAC-16855-A. This is NOT the part number, but a casting/engineering number.

Chrysler parts will have the words: MOPAR and/or the letters cddp in a square (c=Chrysler; d=Dodge; d=DeSoto; p=Plymouth) and a part number.

GM marked ornaments use a seven digit ID number.

Packard, Studebaker, Nash and Hudson have the actual part number on the parts.

I collect hood ornaments....as you may have guessed.
