anyone ever heard of excessive line pressure in a c-4 knocking out the thrust main in a 302?

Not line pressure, per se, but I have seen a ballooned torque converter cause main thrust bearing wear. BTW, this was in a Buick small block turning upwards of 8,000rpm.
