Escort Passport 9500i
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I will give it a shot. I currently have an Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector, and have been looking at the new 9500i. I have been reading a lot of bad things about the "TrueLock" Feature, where it locks out too large of a frequency range on a specific radar band, but I have not heard much about the performance of the Detector itself. I probably wouldn't use "TrueLock" very often anyway, not sure if I would trust it even if it worked "perfectly", so I am just curious if anybody on this site has any experience with the new 9500i. Thanks for the help!

As far as the Valentine 1 being the best, that seems to depend on who you ask. I have read many reports from the "experts" and it seems that both the Escort X50 and Valentine are very very good, and it just comes down to individual preference as to which one is better. I think for the price the Escort is the best, as the Valentine is equally as good, but a little more expensive.
I am in love with my 8500 X50, it is an amazing radar detector. I just saw that they came out with the 9500, but it was about 50/50 as to if it was a good detector or not, so I was just seeing if anybody had any real world experience before I upgraded mine.

I would hold off on the 9500 if I were you, for a few months at least. That is what I am doing. I have read many people have returned the 9500 because it just does not perform.
Apparently the "location memory" it has where you can have it ignore a certain frequency at a specific location does not work as advertised. Some people have experienced it ignoring the entire band, not just the specific frequency, or ignoring a large range around that frequency, and it has not picked up cops at that location. I have also read that people have both the X50 and the 9500, and the X50 had greater range and sensitivity than the 9500.
It is getting late, so I hope all that makes sense. The 9500 seems like a great unit with many useful features, but it has some bugs that need to be worked out before it can be reliable. Hope this helps.
