Trailer Brake Wiring Harness

I borrowed a truck to pull a stock trailer and the trailer brakes aren't working. The truck is a 2006 F-350 with the tow package. The light on the brake controls in the cab does not come on when the trailer is pluged into the harness. The wire for the brakes going into the harness on the truck side is broke off. I took it apart but it did not look like the wire could be re-connected.
Once one of the wires is broken do you have to replace the whole harness? It has the round 7 plug and the flat 4 plug and it looks like the wires are about a foot long and then there is a joiner/harness and then the wires run back to the front. Does this all have to be replaced?

Are there any after market ones instead of buying from Ford?
