You might be able to get away with a 3.5" suspension lift, but the bushings are best to use with the lifts. The rear doesnt require offset bushings like the front end, you can add shims to the spring perches to correct pinion angle. Most lift kits you buy come with all the bushings, unless you were just piecing together a lift.

You can lift it without doing anything else, but the handling gets pretty bad without modifications. You should change the c-bushings with any lift over 2" to keep the caster angle right. Caster causes return to center problems and shimmying. You also want to keep the relationship of the track bar and the drag link pretty close to stock. If either one of these are off, you will experience bump steer. A drop pitman arm is necessary for anything over 2.5". The drop track bar bracket should be used for 3.5" and above.

Its a good idea to change all of the bushings in the front end when you're doing a lift kit anyways. You sure don't want any movement in the front end, steering or suspension when you increase the leverage with a lift kit and large tires.

I have modified several of these and its amazing what you see people have done.

I have one with 5.5" lift that drives like stock.
