does in stalling a cam make the timing requirement diffrence .i mean i can give it timing till it gets real smooth but maby im overtiming it because when a cam is bigger it has less static compression untill it gets up in the rpm range then it has a lot more so what im trying to do is smoothin the idle and it lets me because its got less static compression at idle ..........when it gets warm it starts pinging . i do have an air fuel ratio gage can i set timing with that

all depends on the total.....put a white mark on 0 degrees and dail the light to 36, now rev the motor till the advance stops.. (3500 to 4000 all depends on the spring tension should be all in by 2000 to 2500)note where the white mark is and adjust the distr to 0 the white mark...you are now at 36 degrees total.....
let it idle and put the light back on it adjust the light to get the white mark back to 0. look at the light to see where it's idleing at.

luckly my harmonic balancer went up to 30 so i marked just over that to get 36 total .its idling at 12 deg and at 3000 its hit full total 36*.at idle its got 16 lbs of vac .does that sound right ?? oh and it really broght out some of the lope .it really doesent feel like it has much more power than it did before with the sumit cam and the d70e heads .im guessing the intake
