351W to 460 conversion

I have recently purchased a 83 Bronco XLT with a rod on its way out for $1900. Is there much needed to convert this to a 460 with a C6 tranny.
I realize shafts will need to be altered and motor mounts. I will be upgrading the suspension after the conversion due to the added weight.
Is there kits for this and who sells them.
Any help??
Thanx

Do you check with Advance Adapters?
they make the kit to convert a rangre to 5.0 V8
i think it's a lot hard to do that, may be all you nead is an bellhousing adaption...any how, what's wrong with that 351w? i just have the 302, and with some headers and flowmaster, new coil, rapid-fire sparks, and new wires, run verry smoth!!!!
Good Luck!!

I have a 86' Eddie B. Bronco that came with a 351w/C6, and I put a 78' 460/C6. I used L&L motor mounts. You also have to have a rear sump oil pan (like trucks have, my 460 came out of a Mercury, so I had to change the pan), and other that that its more or less a bolt in. All the wires hooked up, and with a little fabrication skill, all the belt driven accesories went back on. I don't know about the condition of the 460 your thinking about putting in, but mine needed total rebuilding (both engine and transmission), but that just let me build it the way I wanted to. Mine has about 9.5:1 compression ratio, a hopped up cam, a RV torque converter, and a shift kit in the valve body. Oh yea one other thing. A car C6 (or any car transmission) won't bolt to the transfer case. If you don't want to sell or reuse your old transmission for another project you can swipe the output shaft from the old transmission into the new one. Bad news is to get the output shaft out or put it in you have to disassymble the transmission compleatly, which is no big deal if your rebuilding it anyway, but otherwise it would be easyer to find a working transmission from a 4x4 Big block. The power is great, and the milage is about the same as the 351. Good luck with the swap. and if you have any questions I'd be happy to help, just throw an Email my way.

P.S. I'm in eastern North Carolina, where you at?

Yea I agree with other guy you need a C6 from another 385 series engine. I don't know about output shaft sounds like good advise. Consult a transmission shop with a lot of experience. I would say it will be easier to install a built up 351 in the old engine's place. I don't think you will need to alter suspension for added weight if you install a 460 though. Don't get me wrong I have 3 Ford trucks and they all have 460s under the hood.

You might as well do a SAS too so it can handle the weight of the 460 better than your TTB.

You have to remember. This is a heavier engine than your baby 351. So what is worn out on your TTB will show more.
