Well unless the Superchips has figured out away around it, the PCM in the 2008 trucks records and stores everything, and can tell when the truck has been flashed and what loads the engine is seeing. As far as i understand, this is not resettable.

Back to the same old adage "If your going to play, then you gotta pay"

It is all the people who tune and then don't want FMC to "know" about it since they might lose there warranty coverage. The threads pop up quite frequently and that does not make it right. IMO if you modify your engine and break-it then you should pay to fix it not FMC. And with the new computers on the 2008 trucks the memory retains all changes indefinitely.

So what you are saying is you have figured out away to clear the memory banks in the 2008 PCM.

Or should we ask what part of what blackhat620 said is not true. Or is it all untrue and just a scare tactic made up by Ford to try to keep people from tuning.

"the 2008 trucks records and stores everything"

Where did you get this information from and how are you verifying it?

I am curious why people think they couldn't, shouldn't or wouldn't?
With today's technology it seems they could burn any memory they want to. With warranty implications being what they are these days....I would.

This is a quote from the 2008 owners manual "Some vehicles are equipped with Powertrain Control Systems that can detect and store information about vehicle modifications that increase horsepower and torque output; this information cannot be erased and will stay in the system’s memory even if the modification is removed. When a dealer or repair facility works on your vehicle, it may be necessary for them to access the information in the Powertrain Control System. This information will likely identify if any unauthorized modifications have been made to the system and may be
used to determine if repairs will be covered by warranty."

It also explains the event data recorder ( accident recorder or black box) and service record recorder.

On my '08 there is also a sticker under the hood warning about modifications, I don't see why Ford should not be able to void your warranty if they feel the modifications caused a failure. One example is a transmission failure, it could be due to a mod increasing the engine torque above the Ford specifications. The posibility of the mod causing the failure could void your warranty.

I dont belive that it CANT be erased. It might be very hard to but someones computer genius friend will figure out how. At least i hope any way.

Ok maybe this will help a little bit. I have a Bully Dog Triple Dog programmer, and I called bully dog today to ask when the new program for the 2008 would be out, since I have one on order that is supposed to be here next week. I got lucky enough to talk to one of there lead tech support guys. I asked him about this rumor that if you program the 2008's, that Ford can tell. He told me that it was completly false, that the only programmer he knew of that left any type of footprint was the superchip, and even still, it wasn't a footprint that was detectable as an aftermarket tuner. So according to bully dog's stance, there product will not leave any kind of "footprint" behind. He also told me that they had the problem with the exhaust throwing flames, they took it in for the recall fix and ford didn't detect that the computer had even been messed with. Just thought I'd pass the info along.
