460 Exhaust manifolds

I have a 1973 460 that i need new manifolds for, can I use any year or did they change the port/bolt spacing on the newer units? (1988 in particular)

88 was efi. Not sure you'd want those.

Any recommendations? What issues would arise with the use of those from an EFI?

I looked at older models, but they all seem to have the air ports in them (one on top of each runner). The 1988 pair was such that only one port was an the firewall side (back) of the LH manifold. I was thinking that I could easily plug that an no one would see it.

The EFI ones had real problems with manifold bolts breaking and becoming warped. They tick when this happens and drive the owner CRAZY!!!

these are new manifolds for a 1988. there are no studs in them and they would be going on a 1973 motor in a 1964 f100. I would be running a carb.

Do they have any sort of performance issues or connecting (to the heads) issues that i should not get them for?

You can get headers for just about the same cost as the old iron manifolds with a heck of a lot better performance. I think I would look into that avenue if I was you.

I have already tried headers. That was my first choice as well. THe problem is that i am putting a 1973 460 into a 1964 F-100. THere aren't any headers for that. The pair that i bought missed all the items that i was worried about but then hit my draglink on the front axle - didnt see that coming.

AutoKrafters has stock exhaust manifolds 99.99 apiece. I think Blue Oval has them as well but I can't find my Blue Oval Catalog. The are site sponsors, so go to the sponsors page and download their catalogs.

putting the 1988 (efi) manifolds on would block about a third of your exhaust port. they will bolt up, but the port mismatch is so huge you really dont want to do it

Where was that three days ago. Is there any way that those could be ported? Since most of the other comments were about heating and warping, i ordered them the other day...they have already shipped.

I had been bouncing thru different part numbers for headers and most looked the same so i didnt think about the port sizes.

i wouldnt bother trying to make them work, id just resell them on ebay. the port mismatch is so big that if you tried to port match them youd end up with pretty much no metal on the wall of the manifold, and would probably crack the first time you drove them. if you really want to see how bad the mismatch is, go get an exhaust manifold gasket for a carb engine, and lay it over the exhaust manifold... youll see why it wont work

If they're the early 1988 (first month) they're the same part number as the 4BBl.
