Wink Forget the Fender patch, doing the fender extender

Since Sacremento does the fender patch, I'll go with making the front section of the fender extension. Thoughts???

Reamer,

The front fender extension is a relatively small part that I think it would be better if you would make the entire piece. I would say a good majority of the time that the front extension has rust through under and next to the head light there is a thin spot right at the peak by the wheel opening. Even if the extension doesn't have a weak spot there it could be a challenge to weld a patch, which is almost 1/2 of the part, onto the rest of the part.

As for making forms for two different pieces, one for the F-1s and one for the larger trucks, maybe you could make a shoe that you could add or remove depending if you're making a part for a F-1 or the larger trucks:

Here's a thought...and I may be a little biased because I'm doing it to my truck. But how about some fender flares that could be added to the outer portion of the wheel opening. This would essentially reduce the size of the opening and give a more custom appearance. If you check out my progress pics you will see what I mean (although not very clearly). As soon as I get a chance I will post photos that show this more clearly.

By the way I was reading “How to Restore Your Ford Pickup” and the author mentions something about a “bubble skirt” for these trucks by the Fairlane Company. I contacted them and they indicated that the didn’t “have that part”….

Anyone know what this guy was referring to?

If I do just the front, 1. Less extrnsive metal work, and 2. it will fit F-1 all the way to F-8. I like Henry's idea of 1 piece fits all.

Sounds good. I need one set for an F2..

and one set for a cabover. I know different size. But if you also did one for the cabover you would have an extender for the entire 48-50 line.
