Sounds like Navistar is a weee-bit choked that Ford can survive without them....

 

Yep... Relation between ford and navistar was breaked down because navistar lack of quality in their products. How can navistar sue ford because they are planning to introduce diesel engines not built by them. If ford has plans to doit after the contract with navistar expires.

 

They will be introducing them while they still have the contract... but they will only be going in the F150.

 

So then I take it Navistar will still supply diesels for the SD line exclusively until the contract expires?

Talk about risky business.

 

This news story has several flaws. First, the story is over three weeks old. Second, International Harvester Company (IHC) went broke in 1979. They declared bankrupcy, and there was no government aid to bail them out, like Chrysler got. No one else was interested, except one company.


Enter Ford, which by signing a long term contract with IHC to provide Ford with diesel engines, saved IHC's azz. Ford not only signed the contract, but paid for the initial delivery of the engines up front...this gave IHC working capital. The first engines did not appear till model year 1986. IHC changed its name to Navistar.



Bottom line: If it wasn't for Ford, there would be no Navistar!

 

So basically navistar is bitting the hand that has fed them,and kept them alive,
Ford SHOULD absolutly drop them and get on with the in house motor of their
own, or really give CAT a proposal they could'nt refuse.

Your absolutely right and I bet nobody will refute your comment. but do you think the ***** at IH will take this into consideration. it will blow by them like a fart in the wind.

 

Of course they don't care, and it wouldn't surprise me if the current Navistar Board of Directors even knows what happened back then. The old saying applies here: What have you done for me lately?
