01 sport trac throwing code, need help

p1404 i believe is the code. Truck has 215k miles on it. Problem with the truck is, no power. Hardly any power. Plugs and wires recently replaced and that fixed a problem we were having not enough power to climbn a hill) but I am not sure when this problem started. (parents vehicle). So when you accelerate, very little power but enough to drive it around. If you punch it from a stop, it tops out at 4500 rpm and then won't shift. And for the record, I can hear a clicking nose that sounds tranny related. (really fast clicking.) and idea's?

psu remove your EGR valve and check it for carbon build-up... sometimes a chunk of carbon can get wedged in there and hold it open a bit. Clean it as good as you can, and work the pintle up and down manually.. make sure it works smoothly. If it's so bad you can't move it, buy a new EGR valve.

And yes this can cause a bit of a misfire and lack of power.

Good luck
