6.9 white smoke, black smoke, loss of power
Hello All I'm new to this site and first time diesel owner. The truck is an 86 f350 box truck wit a 6.9, about 186,000, four speed, I don't know gear ratio. The problems, tons of whitish smoke on start up, after warming a little lots of powery block smoke. When driving the truck it will hit a certain rpm and go flat and smoke like crazy, got pulled over for excessive smoke (our tax dollar at work) no big deal he said fix it.The owner before me said he put a new injection pump in, don't know it he advanced it or retartered or not. I cracked all of the injectors while idleing and they all seem to be working, had one that had some bubbles for a few seconds. Need some help here to get this thing to stop smoking and run down the road with out going flat and stumbling or jerking. Thanks for the help. Jerry

You may want to post your question here:

It's for your particular truck/engine.
I can tell you that white smoke is unburned diesel, ususally seen at cold start-up.
bluish/white smoke is oil
Black smoke is too much diesel. Could also be injector timing but I'm not totally sure.
Godd luck. Hope you get r done.
