?EGR tube? 96 F150 302

After searching here and other places on the net, I ordered what I thought was the EGR tube (#FOTZ9D477A) for my truck. Problem is there are no tees soldered in to connect the 2 hoses that go to the DPFE sensor.

I need the tube (with tees) that connects to the bottom of the EGR valve and runs under the intake plenum. Can anyone tell me the correct part# or another name for this part?

Any heads up info to point me in the right direction is appreciated!

Is your rig equiped with an EEC-V or an EEC-IV??

If it's EEC-IV then it's a single in single out tube that goes fom the lower manifold to the bottom of the EGR valve. If EEC-V then I have no idea what you need...

Yes, EEC-V/OBD2. I should have known $50 for that part was too good to be true.

OK this should be the correct #F6TZ-9D477-E. I found a source for $86 + shipping. Surely someone else with a '96 has had problems with this tube. Did you repair or replace?

Mine is split at the bellows. JB weld does not work. Now my "aluminum tape/sheet metal/clamps" patch is starting to leak.

I know exactly what your talking about. My 96 had me chasing around what I thought was an exhaust manifold leak. All along is was a leak in the bottom of the bellows area. i took some muffler bandage, and wrapped the ***** out of it and put 2 airplane clamps on it. It lasted for the last 2 years I had the truck. I never even bothered to buy a new one as, I was told it was a dealer only item, and it was expensive.

Yea, it took me a long time to track down the split in mine too. Thanks for the muffler bandage tip. I'm going to go ahead and replace mine though and patch up the old one as a spare if it's not too bad. I'll probably regret it as I've heard it's a bear to get the end off the exhaust manifold.

In the next week or so I'll replace the tube, clean the throttle body, intake plenum and replace the intake gasket. I'll post back how it went for future reference if anyone else decides to tackle this job! Thanks again for everyone's help.

Wow this is an old thread! Sorry I didn't post back. I got the new tube put on. It's not too bad with the upper intake manifold off. The bellows part is there for a reason, because each end doesn't line up and you have to bend it to get it into place. I tried to carefully pry it into place, but still felt like it might kink the bellows too much and damage it. But it went in fine and got rid of my P0401 code.

The hardest part for me was getting the new intake gasket lined up and the bolts started. I tore the first gasket, luckily the local parts store had the gasket kit in stock and I didn't have to order another one.

If you plan on doing this job, schedule plenty of time, soak all the bolts you can reach with PB Blaster or similar a day before and have all new gaskets on hand. Felpro makes a kit with the manifold, throttle body and egr valve gaskets.

Hope that helps

I just looked back at some old threads to refresh my memory. I also removed the throttle body and cleaned it. And I think the egr valve gasket is separate, not in the kit. Also after doing all this I had to replace the dpfe sensor to get rid of the P0401 code for good.

High heat muffler tape/patch would be a quick fix and might last a long time if you have a tear in the bellows. This could be done without removing everything. Others on here have had success going this route, but I've never used the stuff.

Hello,
Thanks for the info. I am not throwing any egr codes, but have had a pesky 171 and 174 lean code. I am thinking if this tube is leaking maybe it is pulling air into the exhaust and throwing the code. I have found the tube at a Ford dealer for 107.00 It is a 96 specific part. Mine looks like it might be cracked at the bellows section and maybe were the two vacuum lines come out.

Put the epensive egr tube on, no change. What a PIA. So next was the divertor valve. Also another hard to get part obsolete from Ford. I found one and put it on. Also replaced the coolant temp sensor. Drove it 3 1/2 hours staright today and so far no light. I may be on too something. I really suspect the coolant temp sensor. If I had only started there.
