Question Ford Edge Reviews?

Anyone here driven or own a Ford Edge? If so what are your thoughts on it?

I just bought a 2002 ranger edge about 6 months ago. 3.0L V6, 5 Speed stick,2WD,regular cab short box with 87000 k on it when i got it. I gotta say i really like it. For what I use it for that's all i nead. So far the only thing i've done to it is replace the rear axle shaft seals, and i've had problems with my interior cab light staying on all the time when i leave the truck. Other than that it been pretty good. I just wish i would of gottin the 4.0L v6 instead of the 3.0. the smaller the engine in a compact truck will give you close the same gas mileage as a sensibly bigger engine in the same truck, with the advantage of more power of cousre. I mean that little 3.0L in my edge works pretty hard to get that truck moving or getting up to speed wheir as it uses more fuel the harder it works. now my 1994 f-150 with the 5.8L 351 engine hardley had to work at all to get going- uses up less fuel the less harder it has to work, it had more than enough power to easily move that truck. I don't notice much in fuel miliage between the both of them. But like i said, for me i don't do any heavy hauling with it so it's realy all i need. I mean if your going to be carrying a quad or a trailer behind it or something than i would not recommend the 3.0L. Their nice little trucks though, their the size of a small car they are actually good on fuel, i get 21 miles to the gallon with mine. their comfortable , compact, easy to manuveur around with, thier fun little trucks. their known to have hit the 500000km mark, thier suppose to be pretty reliable trucks.

I test drove one when they came out. It definetely seemed put together and good quality like Ford has been producing in recent years. My major problem is that it does feel very mini van esque. When you are driving the rear window is quite small and there are a lot of pillars and blind spots. Also the hood is all of 3' long and there is not much space under the hood. (reminds me of what the aerostar looked like when you lifted up the little hood and saw the engine compartment) However I still enjoyed driving it, but would definetely stick with expy of the Ford SUV options.

My wife luvs hers. I think it's a nice pkg from front to back, I like the Edge too! But seriously, we traded in a 05 Explorer Limited and the vehicles are night and day ride quality, quite, fit and finish! a+++ vehicle. If ForMoCo can start making all the new vehicles with the improvements I see in this from our present vehicle line then Ford Motor will be out of trouble

Yea, but people need to start buying them, as of now Oakville assembly is talking of cancelling the third shift and reducing the hours on the other two shifts in June, just not enough sales (Yes I work at Oakville assembly) where they are produced

It will take a little bit for them to catch on... remember the Escape was a very slow seller when they first came out, now look whats going on. If one were to look at the Fusion and the Edge for overall quality I think you will find that they will get top marks versus all domestic and imports.
