86 F150 molding removal
Hey guys, just wondering how the moldings come off the exterior of a 86 F150. are they just on there with double sided foam tape or are the held on with clips or screws of some sort.
I am looking to remove them and not put them back on, i don't want any emblems or moldings on the truck when i'm done.
Any help would be an asset.
Thanks

I think it depends on what moldings you are talking about. I have seen several different versions, though some of them may have not been stock.
I can tell you my xlt ranger f150 had the lower moldings that tied into the moldings that went around the wheel openings. These moldings had clips with holes in the sheetmetal.
The moldings looked like this truck.

The mouldings over the wheel wells are held on by screw type pins that go into a sleeve in holes drilled in the fenders...they all pry off. I made a tool with a one inch flat blade with a quarter inch wide slot cut into it that works very well on these mouldings. The lower mouldings on the rear of the front fender bolt on using 10mm nuts that you access from underneath the truck. The door mouldings are held on by two of the same nuts and nylons clips, The nuts are located in the inside seam of where the outer door skin joins the inner skins...one at the front and one at the rear of the door. Once you remove the nuts, snap the moulding off the nylon clips by prying the bottom out. The rear cab moulding is held on by two nuts accessed from inside the cab near the cab corners. The front of the bed moulding is held on the same way as the door...two nuts you access from the inside of the bed side, then pry it up. The bed moulding behind the rear wheel is held on by three nuts you can get at from underneath the bed.
