turbo air cooler hose

im assuming ur talking about ic hoses ...there puspose is to connect the pipes to where there going and take the flex and vibration of the motor.what causes failure is fatigue caused by age, overboost, rubbing or a defect. they are a cmmon problem on the 6.0 with splitting. they normally are held on with T-bolt clamps..

ford will replace the split hose with the same ply that blew
i found them on internet do a google for turbo hose and it should be the first one that comes up they list sizes not applications call them tell them what truck engine and they will send you the ones you need they know what sizes youll need
the cost is worth it
and everyone i know that blew one was while towing it will boost higher with a load than without

Yes the dealer will replace the hoses with stock hoses, and they should also test your turbo for sticking vanes etc. You did not state what year your truck is.
DO NOT replace your intercooler hoses with heavier duty aftermarket models, if you are overboosting, and the hoses do not come off or fail, you will blow a head gasket and that will leave your truck parked for a while.
What year is your truck?

Thanks for all of the info-yes I have a 2005. I replaced a second EGR valve on this trip and I wonder if the mechanic failed to attach the hose tightly while fixing the valve. I just do not understand why a $ 40000+ vehicle has all of the less than quality parts that do not hold up in our towing world. And then you have to put up with a service manager who cannot remember your name or your vehicle when you check up on the repair with parts that take 5 days to ship.

FatDutchMn,
I tow all the time and do not have any problems with the CAC hose or tubes. The 03 & early 04 had some initial CAC tube problems, and they were re-designed. But the main culprit to CAC tube failure is overboost do to sticking turbo vanes.
If you are on your second EGR valve, in 25K miles, there is something wrong with your diesel service tech, or you let your truck idle alot. The updated EGR valve and PCM strategy has increased the longevity of the EGR valves operation and coking or failure in 25K is rare unless you idle alot.
If you are idling your truck alot then i would recommend stopping the practice of extended idling, even with the Elevated Idle strategy. Long periods of idling with the 6.0 cause problems do to all the emissions equipment that was forced on these engines.
As far as your dealer is concerned, i do not know who you are taking your truck to for repairs, but i would definitely find a different dealer and diesel tech, that could talk to you intelligently and keep you properly informed of the status of your truck repairs.
Hope this helps

The repair was the lower right turbo air cooler hose replaced and a new turbo which was the cause of the hose blow off. It runs great for now. I still contend this is due to faulty parts and not operator error.
The dealership sell 40 diesels per month and has at least 16 turbo repairs of some nature per month-not a good record for Ford.

I think you should try another dealer Fatdutchman. I had problems with my 04 cc, 6.0, fx4, had a dealer four times and they couldn't fix it or remember me. All that was within 2 months, I took it to another dealer and they fixed it first time. I have even seen the service rep in a store and he remembered me. Needless to say I just bought an 07 cc, 6.0, 2wd from them and will never use the other dealer again unless it's a dire emergency. All dealers are not created equal, even though they should be, some people don't care.

Some of these dealers deserve to get their licensing yanked. Once you find a good dealer stick with it. In todays day and age there are more bad than good. I have dealt with the same dealer since '96, and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The dealer is 30 miles away, and I have 1 about 5 miles from my house. I would go 100 miles than deal with those morons.
