I was talking about the Ranger. I used the 2004/07 F150 Regular Cabs as a comparison...saying how many have y'all seen? To make a Regular Cab Ranger won't be as profitable to Ford as making CC and SC Rangers. Building just a Regular Cab, and that cramped SC, is the major reason why the current Ranger, once the third best selling vehicle in the US, has dropped like a stone as far as sales are concerned.

I've always liked how ford built there trucks tough looking. Some of there newer concept vehicles though look like they came from japan or something. they got to much of that futuristic look. there getting more out of that rigid toughness look. that's just what i think though.

Personally I have never liked the Ranger or any "truck" application that isnt available with a V8 and/or enough power to get a job done. For the power/size the Ranger sacrifices it hardly makes up for it with gas mileage. Good Riddance I say.

Thats not the reason why Ranger sales are down. Think about it this way, GM, Toyota and Nissan have all make their compact trucks bigger and more powerful, whereas Ford rolls out the same Ranger year after year after year with slight cosmetic tweaks every few years.
Whos going to buy a new Ranger when other brands give you more truck for the same amount of money and why would a Ford loyalist trade in their old Ranger for a new one when its pretty much the same truck.
IMO, Ford left the Ranger alone to push people towards the F-150. All of the other truck manufacturers are cutting into Ford's sales number and I think they are desperate to keep the F-150 the best-selling truck in America. What Ford needs to remember though is that not everyone wants a fullsize truck.
Im going to be looking at getting a new truck in a couple years and to be honest, if Ford doesnt make a midsize truck or makes on that I just dont like, I will have to look elsewhere. I never thought Id live to say this, but there just might be a Chevy Colorado or GMC Canyon in my driveway if Ford doesnt get their act together.

Oh, I understand now. I've only seen a couple of 04-07 F-150 Regular Cabs and maybe 25% of the Rangers I see are Regular Cabs, so you are absolutely right. As for sales slipping, isn't it more because of the lack of a major redesign since what, 1993, than the cab size?

That's what I basically said too..same trucks since 1983 with minimal changes. No Crew Cab (regardless of the Explorer Sport Trac).

Uh, I said the Rangers had changed very little since 1983, amd still offered the same RC and cramped SC. You say roughly the same thing with comments about the competition offering bigger and better trucks.

The GM twins are underpowered and the quality is wanting...they are better than the old S-10, but that's not saying much. The Nissan Frontier is cramped inside, and offers the least legroom of any mini truck...38.5 inches. Most offer 40-41.5 inches. I'm no fan of Toyotas, but the Tacoma is miles ahead of the rest.

I agree. However, the Tacoma cost more than I paid for my F-150 and is a lot less truck for my use.

u really cant compare a light truck to an f-150, even though it does well against it. i like my ranger, even though it has issues in comparison to the competition, its not the rangers fault its fords.
this will be my first ford and last if they dont do something with the ranger. im still at a loss how they can say i have a super cab. plus the mpg technology blows with the 4.0. you can get more hp,heavier truck, same size engine and have better mpg, with the competition.
a couple of 300 pounders inside would make them feel like there going for a roller coaster ride.

I drove Tacoma once and I didn't like it at all. Like most of Toyotas, its just too boring to drive.

i owned a tacoma, and have a new ranger, to each his own, but other than my 515 what pioneer system, thats about the only thrilling thing this ride has, it sure aint the sloppy shifting, and poor mpg.
