Have you checked the UVC harness (Under Valve cover). There are 2 connectors on each V-cover. Look for corrosion, burnt, bent pins/sockets.

Remove the valve covers to check the connections under there too.

It seems that the trouble you are having should be throwing a code?

Don't know about the computers but mine acts the same way except at 3K rpm. I went with the electric pump thinking it was starving for fuel but it still acts the same.

I recently had the same problem. I disconnected the EBPV exhaust back pressure valve which helped tremendously. It didn't cost anything and is easy to rule out.

My intermittent problem did not go a way with a cps change and ebpv disconnect. I have no codes and was wondering if you got your problem resolved

That code is normal for a truck with a chip. Normally a PCM is a go no go item. They either work or they don't. Its worth a shot if you can find somebody who you could swap PCM's with. Also did you say you drove the truck with out the chip installed? Did it make any difference?

Try running in cruise if you have it, Run the speed up & down, & see if the problem goes away..If you need a TPS they are available herehttp://http://www.dormanproducts.com...s_Sensors2.pdf

If there is a problem with the TPS , & the PCM doesn't get a signal, It automatically returns to idle untill the PCM gets more info.... ...

Just an update, I changed my CPS with the 'new & improved one'. I ran it up to 3400 rpm and it was smooth as silk!!

I am battling the same type of problem. I did find that the idle validation switch on the gas pedal was dirty, would stick, and when it does the engine will instantly go to idle. However, I am still trying to find the correct TPS to replace my old one. May have to buy the whole pedal assembly but I am refusing to part with that much money.
