What is your ultimate goal with the truck? If its radical, get the Hypermax fire ring gaskets. If not, use OEM with ARP headstuds.

My ultimate goal...

being able to get around 500hp (using propane and tune) reliably. Don't have time to waste repairing blown gasket all the time

So where do I get these gaskets and studs?

www.gohypermax.com

I believe that with this head gasket/firing rings and ARP head studs you are good up to 40 psi of boost.

Studs are 450 -475 from horsepowerfreaks.com or long island performance diesel. Gaskets and fire rings are also available from long island performance diesel. I recently put on a new head due to a cracked one and put on new stock head gaskets and arp studs from horse power freaks.

Gohypermax says on their web site NOT TO USE STUDS with their firering gaskets!!!!

So I guess new Ford bolts and this gasket set will do it for me

I would say use stock gaskets with the ARP studs, if 500rwhp is all your looking for. The reason Hypermax don't want you to use ARP studs is if nothing is able to "give" you end up replacing the rotating unit if you over boost the engine. I won't tell you my source, as its irrelevant, but bending all 8 rods is no joking matter.

I'd love to do head gaskets and studs but does anyone know of someone reliable in the New Jersey area to do this work for me?

But that is exactly what I want... not to ever have to worry again about a blown head gasket... what a waste of time and fun!!!!

And... at what HP amount do rods are required?

99.87% of the time you will not have an issue with the above mentioned mods as far as what your wanting to do with your truck, however there is that .13% chance of an "Oh Chit". That is just part of the performance game. Me personally, I'd live with a set of headgaskets in case of over boost, long before I could come up with the money for a rotating assembly. Just something to ponder.
