96 E 350 Gas Pedal Assembly Help

I have a problem. I have a 1996 E 350 with the 7.3 engine. I need a throttle position sensor which is part of the gas pedal assembly. The problem is Ford no longer makes this part (f6uz9f836ba) and nobody in the country has one. It is 1996 and diesel specific. No other model years or gas engines will work. Has anybody ran into this or found a way to replace just the sensor?

I have been searching junk yards but diesel vans are not that popular.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've had good luck with hard to find parts here:
junkyarddog.com

This is the part # I come up with for a van. It looks like an old # but it may be available, IDK.
Throttle Assembly (Includes Pedal, TPS, & IVS) 94-97
(Ford) F5UZ-9F836-B (Econoline)

I don't know if this will work for a van but it's worth a try. Like stated below it may not be available either. I wish I could help more, sorry.
TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) 94-97
See "Throttle Assembly" (May not be Available Individually)
(Ford) F2TZ-9B989-C (recently available, haven't confirmed it works yet).

If all else fails you may be able to clean/repair your old TPS.

here is the list of part numbers
Throttle Assembly (Includes Pedal, TPS, & IVS) 94-97
(Ford) F5TZ-9F836-A (f-Series) 94-95
(Ford) F6TZ-9F836-AA (F-Series) 96-97
(Ford) F5UZ-9F836-B (Econoline)
TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) 94-97
See "Throttle Assembly" (May not be Available Individually)
(Ford) F2TZ-9B989-C (recently available, haven't confirmed it works yet)

I found the assembly here. Not sure if they have it but they list it. Worth a try!
http://catalog.powerstrokeshop.com/p...ts&searchAll=1

I just called the dealer that I use and they said the same thing! discontinued for three years now! and nobody has them! thats crazy! so what that means is if you have a E350 and your tps goes out you call a wrecker to haul it to the bone yard!

I wonder if the pickup pedal can be made to work? would you be able to post a pics of your pedal so we can compare. especially the connectors on both the TPS and idle valiation switch. Maybe you could just buy a pickup tps and swap the sensors over.

The TPS was cleaned a while back and it lasted for a few months but now it finally has to be replaced.

I called the PowerStroke shop and he did confirm that it is no longer available and there is no stock.

I do not know if a pickup truck pedal assembly will work but it is something I am going to have to try it looks like.

I will PM Cuda Jim to see if he does have a used one.

I appreciate your help and if and when I come up with a solution to the problem I will let you know.

Thanks again

Helper, FarmboyAC is the guy you want, I think. Give him a try. He just pulled a motor from a van.

PM sent.

Farmboyac told me they were keeping all that PSD stuff for a motor swap into a 79 pickup. sorry to have stuck out on that one.

Helper do you have the ability to take pics and post them of the pedal assembly you have? If you can we can compare tot he truck pedal and see if it might work before you drop the cash to buy one.

Thanks for the help

It's gotta be for a van. According to Ford they are different.

Standard Motor Products list this one

STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # TH35 {THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR

for your '96 E350.

I found the listing at Rock Auto. http://www.rockauto.com/

Just do the parts dig down for your model and you will find it in the Emissions section.
Click the blue "i" for information and you can veiw three pictures of it to see if it is like yours. It's the sensor only, not the complete pedal assembly.
