Exclamation Help- Looking for this part!

Hi,

I posted this in the FE forum, but hope someone can help me here too. I need to get one of these to my brother asap. It is the part that the gear shift lever goes into the np435 transmission. This is the worn out one. If anyone knows where one is or can get one, I will compensate for all expenses.

Thanks,
Karl

I think Clnt mentioned he had the shifter, would stand to reason he might be able to help you out ...best to email him though, seems PM don't work for him much.

Hi Numbers and Mike,
I am in contact with Clint and Dan on trying to find the parts. I will also tell my brother to check with the Ford dealer to see if they have it. I will check the FTE sponsor too.

Thanks everyone,
Karl

Give the local dealer the part number, otherwise you might get the brush off.

This gearshift retainer cap fits every NP435 from 1958 to today.

Largest stocking parts dealers close by: S&C Ford in San Francisco, Serramonte Ford in Colma. Bill Brandt Ford (in Antioch?forget) has a good parts stock.

Numbers,
My brother can check with Ford, I will also order one to be sent to him at the same time. At that price, I can afford a couple of them. Are there any other parts associated with the shifter that I should order at the same time?

Thanks Bill - I am sure this number is a help.

I had posted something else, then I saw Karl's response.

That part has been a PITA since day one, because most ppl don't know it's a twist off. (The Warner type screws off.) The NP cap should first be pressed down on, then twisted off by a 1/4 turn. You should only need this.

Thanks Clint, Bill, and Dan
You all are saving my truck. I need to have it ready to drive back here from Montana by next Saturday! I just orderd the part from Y2K. It amazes me how one little part can keep a big truck from going. If I ever get the chance, I will buy both of you beer or your beverage of choice.

Thanks,
Karl

Quick update. My brother called the local Ford dealership with the part numger. They had one in stock and delivered it my brother at no extra charge (talk about service, it was $7.00 part) He drove the truck home (25 miles) and said it ran very well.

Thanks to all for your help with this. Big thanks to Dan and Clint who were going to hunt for parts and to Bill for getting me the part number.

That is great! When do you leave to go get it?

btw, brothers are nice, but I would not let him drive it until I had it in my name. . . He might get to liking it too much!

Gee Clint, I think you are right. He emailed me and said he put enough miles on it today to need the first oil change after rebuild (200 miles) Dang, I am going to need a new rebuild engine because he wore this one out.
