I drained the oil in my 272 today for the first time. Before I drained the oil it read exactly to the full line of the dipstick. I measured the amount of oil that came out and it measured 9 quarts without the oil filter. That's more than my 454 holds with the filter.

Question: How many quarts is a 272 suppose to have with out the filter?
( I assume the filter will add 1 quart.)

What is the engine in? (stock?)


I have a 292 for my F-600. I recently acquired a pan from a van or panel that's supposed to be (and is) larger....much larger. You probably have the same pan. I'll bet it holds at least as much as you say!. I don't have the engine in yet so I haven't put any oil in it yet.


More is always better.
