Steering in a bind

Steering in a bind
The steering on my girlfreinds 82 bronco binds sometimes for no reason at all. Driving straight down the road the steering will all of a sudden pull to one side. When you steer the other way to correct it after a little bit it will let loose and send you the direction you were offsetting your steering wheel to. We have replaced the gearbox thinking that was the problem. It seems to have slowed down but the problem still exists. Now i'm thinking linkage or possibly balljoints could be getting old and rusty, or something. Anybody else had this problem or have any ideas?

more than likely your correct.
my bet it's the ball joints or joint, and you can jack up the whole front end, and let someone move the steering back and forth while you lay down there and watch, and you can also take the wheel by hand, and move it back and forth, and see which one is grabing.
grease may work but more than likely it want.
good luck,

Well I'm going to have to guess ball joints also but if you find that those are o.k. I had a similar sounding problem except it happened when I would initiate a turn. I ended up changing the radius arm bushing. Those are the only things I got good luck. let us know how it plays out.
