I have a 5.8 out of one and was told that the flex plate is wrong for the AOD. What other Auto transmissions were available that year?

If a 1989-1993 truck has an Overdrive Cancel Switch and a P-R-N-OD-2-1 shifter pattern, then it is equipped with an E4OD transmission. With the possible exception of some 4R70W equipped 1993 E-150 vans with 5.0L SFI engines (The existence of a 1993 4R70W van is unsubstantiated).

Sorry to hijack this thread, but my E-150 gas the 351W 5.8l engine and the box has a 20 bolts on the pan. So what transmission is it, and when doing a fluid change, what is the fluid I need for it? Mervin 2,3, or 4

You can't hijack a thread that's been dead for 15 years.

20 bolts is the E4OD transmission.

I've never heard of Mervin fluids. This transmission needs MERCON V fluid.

But anyways, many thanks for the info. Now my monkey wrench can get the right fluids to give my beast some tlc.
