2995.00 AND ALL IS GOOD

Update to my woes, I had my tranny rebuilt at AARROW transmissions. I used them because they told me what the real problem was and how they fixed it. Its been over a year and 40K miles and it works perfectly.
Save yourself a lot of head aches, skip all the adjustments and parts swaping, have it fixed and get on with your life. I drove mine for 100K with the OD off.
By the way they even gave me a 3 year unlimited warrenty.

AJ1E,

I checked out your site and your instructions mentioned to carefully check the Solenoid Pack resistance before I replaced the OD and IM Servos. If I get the right resistance for Shift Solenoid B, would that assure me that the Solenoid Pack is good and I should just proceed to the Servos?

Also, as I have researched many folks talk about losing 2nd and 5th. If I can let up on the pedal and force a shift to second, but can't catch 5th, does that suggest that my OD band is good? Does this symptom suggest anything else about the Solenoid Pack or OD Servo?

Thanks,
Michael

The design is such that the port when open pumps fluid into a cross bore in the rod and up throgh a bore in the rod to the back side of the piston where the pressure is intended to go. What happens with a worn bore is some of the fluid leaks past the rod and the wall of the bore to the back side of the piston causing back pressure. The majority of the loss is between the bottom end of the rod and bore and back into the resevoir. The final result is both of these take away pressure from the piston and it will no longer build up enough to properly engage the bands causing your issues. I have designed and built a fix that does not require dropping the tranny! It involves replacing both servos with modified OEM parts. I have sold over 40 of these sets on ebay with 100% positive results. Takes about four hours to do with the right tools. Check out my sight and or contact me directly. There are a variety of them for sale on the popular auction site. I did a search for "Ford servo fix" and had 7 relevant hits.

You might want to shop around your local (I suggest non-chain) transmission shops. I had my servo bores drilled and sleeved, the valve body replaced with a new one, and the fluid and filter changed by a local respected transmission shop for about twice the price they're getting for just the bore kit and didn't get dirty doing it.
