piston- bore measure

Hi, I'm building a stroker and need to know the best way to measure the piston to the bore. thanks

measure the piston as per the manufactures specs for measuring it, usually half way down the skirt works if you don't know for sure. Measure the bore with a set of bore gauges or inside micrometer. subtract piston diameter from bore diameter.

Thanks monster baby, the differance between cylinder and the piston should be .004 and .008? Is this right?

piston to bore clearence is determined by piston type (forged, hyper, cast) bore diameter, and intended application.

example KB hypers for street driving on a 4.360 bore would be .0020-.0025, the JE forged pistons I run at 4.420 bore for drag racing only, recommend .0050-.006
