.......which is sortof where you are most likely to have trouble anyway. I dont really see a point in having ABS on hard dry pavement.

As for the mitsubishi, the newer one that had abs is also lighter than the older one.....

And even if there was the difference that everyone seems to claim, its not enough for me. even on black ice there is still traction to be found, if you can feel the sheering point, and make desicions accordingly as the driver. With ABS however, the "feel" is gone as the computer takes over, and starts making desicions on its own.

You will never have an ABS computer that can compile and acccess all of the the experience that the human brain can.

Again I say, driver training is the answer, not vehicle sophistication.

I think of ABS as a handheld calculator; its a tool, not a solution.

Crazy001 is starting off with a positive reputation.
Well, it seems we could go on for weeks like this...but we're never gonna agree, and there's no point in continued argument. David85, I apologize for calling you ignorant a few days ago, I was in a bad mood...

To each their own, I guess...and many vehicles have it as an option, not standard.....

I enjoyed the discussion Crazy001, and no offence was taken.

i feel the abs is a 2 sided coin too. i don't want it personally, driving my sisters durango on the freeway last year and had to come to a quick stop, on the brake pedal as hard as possible, couldn't lock up any wheels at all. i felt i could'v stopped shorter with no abs and better control. keep in mind this is on dry pavement. i remember wishing i was in my old bronco instead and preferred to slide'm. after that i just didn't feel in control. on the other side of the coin i was driving (the peterbilt) around the 694 in minneapolis few weeks ago and this '81-ish 4dr impala with a bunch a teens in it with their hats on sideways come flying up the left lane, when we all slowed down this kid hit the brakes hard, back wheels locked up and putm sideways in the next lane. luckily no one was there and he managed to get it straightened out in time, but had he had abs that likely wouldn't of happened. if someone was beside him it would've been an ugly pile-up. like somebody said back there, no matter how good and quick you are, panic is still panic and on a busy freeway even all the precautions only go so far, it's the other idiot that makes it all happen
