yeah...i'll take them back too....and i'll put the new truck up against any of the older ones as a work truck.....the reason i say that is the company i work for....thats all they use....thats all we buy...and they work very well....

i would have to say that ford has made very good trucks for a long time and that will never stop....so the debate of whitch year is better will never stop either....

i will say that in my family tahts all we have had.....my dad had the 79 Ford that everyone screams about....we had an 85, 88, 92, and a 96....all F150's except for the 79.....thats was a 250....

we have always pulled a trailer and had some weight behind it.....my dad says that my new 07 does the job better than any of the F150's he has ever owned and does it quieter and with a better ride....

the only truck he said that could compare was the 79 he had but that was a 250 and he had a worked over 400 in it so it wasn't exactly stock....

My '07 F150 is the best vehicle I've owned yet, truck or car. And I have a load in it almost everyday, and pull a trailer quite often. It does the work I need it to do, and it sure is nice at the end of a long day to climb in and relax on the way home. I loved my older Fords, but a nice quiet place to spend some time after hearing saws all day, they weren't. Can't even really feel a 1000lbs. in my '07, but even with my '77 F250 you knew you had load at that weight. The brakes and steering would give it away every time. They are all good, but I think the newer trucks are more capable and more refined. Nothing wrong with that.

Oh how I do love my wing windows... Rawr.

Personaly I plan on always sticking to older pickups. Not saying I wouldn't LOVE to own a brand new f150 flareside. I love those trucks..

Overall I think they're nice trucks and I wouldn't mind having one. It's just that they've discontinued a couple options that are very important to me, If these options were still available I would probably already be driving a new one.

I plan on it, one of these days when I'm working steadier hours. As much as I love Ole' Betsy, all those little annoyances that keep going out just get tiresome after a while. I'd love to own a f150 flareside with a 4.6 8 cyl in it.. that's all the truck I need, and it wouldn't look bad either.

my last truck was a 2001 black stepside....put a bunch of money into it....pics in my gallery...i liked it a lot....5 speed...4.6L 4x4....very nice....but i love my new one just the way it is....after i do some stuff to this i'm really going to love it....i'm already thinking about a bar grille....tint the front windows....maybe a set of wheels and some all terains in a year or two...

the truck pulls like a bull...it's pretty impressive....i had 6K behind it and it was up through the gears and in OD on the turnpike....65MPH out through i went....my old 01 would have thrown a FIT it would have done that to it...

That is the set up I'd have if I had the choice. A 4x4 black flareside with a v8. Ole' Betsy is a black flareside, 1994 model, 2WD.. a really sharp looking truck, she just has a lot of miles on her. =/ Miles = wear and wear = parts going out - a lot.

I've bene pricing trucks a lot lately. I could easily get a single cab flareside with a v8 in it for relitively cheap if I don't go for any extra's (once I can work steadier). I figure if I buy it kinda cheapy, I can always upgrade it later. I know one guy did that with a ford ranger - he really beefed that baby up. added leaves and everything else. that thing was tough.

Time and money, time and money..

That is a sharp truck! Really awesome looking. I know what you mean about the ex cab though.. Mine is a single cab too and even though it looks good, the lack of space is annoying. I have a tool box, but it still doesn't help much. I noticed Ford is putting flare sided boxes on their 4 door pickups now. It looks good!

EDIT: Since I'm apparently not smart enough to figure out how to post a picture, here is a link to one of my truck's pictures. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/inde...mageID=2960333

Let me know if it works, it may not

I'd be happy to buy a new truck, if they'd give me more options (yes, the manual trans again) that I prefer, and if there were a better "basic" package.

The truck I would buy tomorrow, if it existed, would have a 5 speed (or 6), manual transfer case, and a straight six. Just a basic work truck, affordable and reliable. Good mileage, with more low end power than the V6's offer. (My wife's 2002 Mountaineer is proof to me of V6's lacking in the bottom end - it just doesn't take off up a hill like the old inliners).

The plastic bumpers and whatnot are a pain, but any decent fabricator can solve that problem, without too much effort.

My 74 F100 has everything I want (except for the magic gas tank that refills itsself for free) in a truck, and I've had trucks up to a 98 (uglier than sin, but a really nice truck for the most part) optioned similarly - now I have to buy a ¾ or one ton to get my basic pickup, and that's just wrong. The marketing folks would do us all a favor by bringing the F150 back to a broader audience.

I work in an open pit mine, and we see every make and model come through as personal or contractor trucks, and there's one undisputed fact - nothing new, other than Super Duties lives very long working here. The newer F150's have a life measured in months, rather than years - there's still 87-91 F150's and Broncos hanging on out there, so something was obviously better in the design. (TTB is superior to IFS for an off highway worker is my theory).

On the same subject I have came to the realisation that no one make a 1/2 ton truck any more. There are alot of 1/2 ton cars out there. Ford screwed that up in 97 and GM a few years before that.

Take the F150 and make it look retro. Kind of like a late '40s thing with hang on fenders and such. How cool would that be? The F250 and F350 are work trucks, but the 150 is more of an SUV/light duty. Bring back real fenders.
