Hey guys I have a number of questions. How can I tell what 351 I have(ie W,C,M..note that it is a reman from Advavce auto parts). Next question..yesterday I was driving dwon the raod at about 45mph and the truck started bogging down I gave it some gas it went away for about 5 miles then did it again. Could this be my float adjustment,my catalytic converter or what? On with the next question, I know that my transmission pan gasket leak but I have also seen trans fluid coming from the front of the bellhousing. Is there a front seal that could of been damaged when installing the new motor? Next, I am really sick of this carburated system..I have put 4 carbs on this truck(2 holley/motorcraft factory carbs and 2 holley 650cfm) and I alway seem to have severe problems with both.. Is there any fuel injection kits available for this motor. I have heard from a mechanic that there is one for around $900 is this true and if so where can I get one. I really want to get rid of this birds nest of vacum lines and still pass georgia emmissions. Any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks John

I can help with the transmission leak question. There is a seal on the front shaft of the transmission, and when you have a leak where you say you do then this is usually the culprit. It is not likely that it was damaged when installing the motor, although it is possible. Try adding some transmission stop leak from the auto parts store, believe it or not this stuff works a lot of the time. Otherwise you will have to drop the tranny to change the seal.

i also have a 87 bronco 351w ho with everything still in tack and it has a holley four barrel which i rebuilt not to long ago.i really don't think your floats would cause your engine to bog down while driving at that rate of speed, unless the adjustment is off real bad, and if it was off that bad then it probadly wouldn't idle that great, and it probadly wouldn't recover well when you cut the engine off and started it back up, so i'm also guessing that it's got a new fuel filter if you've put that many carbs on it. there's probadly something else causing that problem. do you still have all your emission system hooked up and working correctly, because you have to have the right carb on it with your fuel bowls vented correctly.it's really hard to help when your not there, heres a web site that can help you with all your concerns if you want to use it, but it cost 25 dollars for a one year member ship.it gives you alot of data, and help, it also has a on line technician.www.alldatadiy.com.your transmission fluid leak dose sound like front trans seal. good luck,

My guess about the motor would be the Windsor- what kind of tranny do you have?If you have the AOD or C6(doubtful) then it's a windsor. As for the carb system, stick with it. If nothing else, you can work on it yourself.

LAST EDITED ON 22-Aug-01 AT 09:07 AM (EST)[p]I'm pretty sure the tranny is a C6, at least thats what is in my 87 Bronco 351w HO.
ditto on what 83bigbronco said Re: carb
