Which tranny is which?

I posted this in another forum, but ll I am getting is views and no responses. I am trying to figure out which is EAOD/E4OD, etc.

HELP! Thanks

Just bought another truck.... 89F150 XLT. It's pretty rusty but the drive train feels/sounds good and the money was right... at least for me.

The door tag is hard to read and I can't tell what the trans code is... it looks like a "T", but I don't see that code in my chart. I know it is a 302 and axle code is "H9" which I should be a 3.55 LS. Previous owner says it is an OD tranny ... it is NOT the one with a button on the dash. Gear selector reads P-R-N-D-2-1

Of course I have no way of knowing if column or tranny has been replaced.

Any help appreciated!

1980/89 Door Tag Transmission Codes (pertaining to AOD/E4OD)

E = (1989) E4OD

T = (1981/89) AOD

Y = AOD

The transmission application charts from the 1980/89 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog; Section 70 Page 26 shows that an 1989 F150 302 (5.0) would have had either a C6 or an AOD...the E4OD is only listed for F250/350's.

Ford Transmission ID tag numbers for 1989 F150's & U150's with a 5.0 (on the left side of the case) with AOD tranmissions: PKB-AE; PKB-AG; PKB-AH; PKB-AJ (4x4)

U150 = Bronco

It won't be exactly the same internally. AOD introduced in 1980 on Crown Vics, Mercury Grand Marquis and Lincoln Town Cars.
