What's your opinion? Is 6" or 8" the best lift size for my '83 bronco? Used to, i thought the higher the better, but now i think extreme lifts look akward, not to mention the technical problems i would encounter off-road with one. I'm pretty sure i'm getting 36" super swampers ( just in case you wanted to figure that in for asethetics) Maybe even 6" is too high? Thanks for your input.

Hi Tx. Just lifted my '93 6" w. a supelift from stock last week. Was going to do 4", but just seemed everyone was running 6" and it was not much more money, so I said what the he**. lol
But, am having problems w. r. ds angle and still need to do something to get rid of the stock wedge under the leafs.

Here are some pics of before/after

Good luck

Thanks man. That lift looks good. The lifted pics have larger tires right? What size are they? What problems did you encounter? ( diveshaft angles or something) (sorry i'm not to good with all the abbreviations) Also, i wondered if i went with an 8" lift would my driveshafts not be long enough. Thanks.

Thanks! I did the install myself and I had no mechanical experience to speak of..saved $1200!

Those are 33's in the pics. Waiting for my new 35x12.5x15 SSR's to be delivered. Problems? Not really w.the install. The r. ds pinion angle is a little steep, but running w. no vibration using leaf, 2" block, and stock wedge. I need to get 6" leafs to cure this problem sometime.
Good luck

You need to get at least a 6" lift. The 4" lifts are o.k. but by the time they settle they weren't worth the time. I have 6" Pro Comp lift on mine and it has been all-right. I put 35" BFG's MT on 15x10 rims and they rub on the front fenders by the doors. I had 33"s before with the lift and the tires never rubbed, I wish I would have stayed with them. The 33"s were great even after jumping the truck 4-5 feet in the air they never rubbed. Now I can't run through fields at more than 25 mph with out some type of rubbing. If you really want 36" tires than go with the 8" lift. DON'T BUY A PRO COMP LIFT.

The stock rear block if very necessary to the angle of the drive shaft. I looked under mine a couple of weeks ago and realized that mine were broken. So I figued I could lift it a little more since the back was starting to sag. I have Pro Comps add-a-leaf, and lifted it 2". I got a 2" lift block and inserted them without the broken factory one. I put every thing back together and drove it around. The vibration wouldn't go away the angle of the driveshaft was off and the block didn't have the same wedge that the factory does. I bought new ones from the dealer for $40 a piece and put them in and they drive great. What a waste of a day. Stick with the springs and don't waste time with the blocks or trying to eliminate them; they're there for a reason.

Did you have to have any work done to your driveshafts with the 6" lift. I would like to go 6" myself but if I have to rebuild the driveshafts I will go with 4". I just purchased a 95 w/5.8(351), E4OD, Eddie Baeur package..... Simply a Beaut!!!!!

Thanks man. I looked at either putting a skyjacker system in or peicing a lift together through Jeff's Bronco Graveyard. Only problem is i can't find cheap extended radius arms and drop brackets. The ones at bronco graveyard cost almost $700!

Not Yet Mike. I'm using 4 1/2" leafs, 2" block, and then the stock wedge, which w/out as mentioned earlier, will give ya bad vibrations. EVentually I'll either go to 6" leafs and the wedge, a tapered block, or have my spring perches moved.
But as it is, it's driving fine now. Go with the 6"

And Riso, I hope I dont' have problems w. my 35's on order! I too have some 33's on now and theres tons of clearance. I guess we'll see.

Hey Chris, where did you purchase your lift at? I am curious because I want to get my 1994 up a little higher. It currently has a 4inch Pro Comp kit which I don't really like all that much. Also, did the kit you buy come with everything you needed or were there several trips to the auto parts store involved. thanks

I got some of it used and some new. Sometimes the kits comes w. shocks, if not, then shocks, pitman arm, new bushings and extended brakelines are all extra on top of the price for the kit.

Good luck,
Chris
