I would love to see the return of a Short wheel base 2-door 4x4. Solid axles are a must for serious of road usage. For those wanting a V10 in a 'Bronco' it will never happen. Smog laws will stop this. The current V10 resides in a 3/4 ton platform. the 'Bronco' is a 1/2 ton or lighter. 5.4 triton v-8 are the biggest thing Ford can put in them. The Feds and the EPA will keep the larger engines out of anything too light in GVW. Just my two cents.

alpo 23,
Thanks for your input and your $.02. I'll be forwarding it on to Ford along with some others. If they go with current platforms & use a solid front axle, it'll have to be 3/4 ton, like the Excursion, since the F-150/Expedition doesn't have the beef for serious trail riding. If so, you may see a V-10 or Powerstroke diesel in a Bronco of the future. After all, things do change with time.

Ok, here's two more cents. What are the regulations regarding minimum wheel base length for a vehicle to achieve 3/4 ton status? Would 110 inchs or less be doable? I've always wondered if there were Fed. Regs. or were they simply internal to the manufactures to not make short wheel base High GVW vehicles.

What I would like is the solid axle option and to see a BIG V8 in a new Bronco. With our expectations they need something big. At least something to match the 351. Another option would be a tailgate or possible even the split back door like the Excursion. Also, I never really liked the idea of the push button 4 wheel drive so I would like to see the stick on the floor like most broncos. I sure hope it comes back! That would look great with the Excursion front end.

Eric,
I don't know the minimum wheelbase for a 3/4 ton. I have heard from my Ford rep that the diesel (or V-10) would be difficult on a 105" wheelbase, since the combination of the engine plus an automatic tranny would go WAY back on a short wheel base. We'll see.
85 Bronco,
Great post! I noticed you also replied to my other hot thread, the "Does this pic make your blood boil?" one. I hope Ford hurries up and gets with it, since the word is now out that Chevy will revive the 2 door full-size Blazer in 2002!!! The total number of posts I've sent to Ford is now well over 300!!!

I have a '94 Bronco. I like it. I can tell you one thing about them, alot of fire/ambulance companies have them as cheif cars. Why? Because of the short wheelbase and 4x4 with a V-8. What I would like to see is one that can be made for $20-25k. I think that at that price range, Ford would have a hit on their hands. I would like to see a V-8 in it, 5-speed.

20-25K??? My '95 stickered for 28K!!! (it almost makes me feel bad about driving it throught the river...he he he) That is entirely too much money for an off road vehicle. I would LOVE to see a new bronco for 20-25K. Ford would not be able to keep them on the lots. They would be like the **shudder** explorer when they first came out. You would have to order a bronco and wait your turn to get one... I cant wait!!!!

I have woken from my dreams of a new series of off roadable and pure, manly, hard as nails, and loyal like a good ole dawggie, big Bronco that could i buy for Under 30K...with steel or metal parts instead of vinyl, leather, and so many freakin' cupholders (exc for the driver!..lol)
I see that the escape with the 3.0 and auto and all the options gets some folks hardly 1 mpg more than my 96 5.0.....and the others..will cost too much for us kountry folks to take thru those dark woods where granny lives..besides the nasty beach where the sands swallow the poor eCK splorers and the thubarohhs.
Best thAng for me is to over-maintain my 96...lube it..oil it..and sweet talk it like when no one's looking.
I would like to ask ford if they think they already gave us our Bronco in the escape or explorer 2 dr.
Back to staring at my 96....this one is no dream...let me go and talk to it...maybe a ride thru the dunes later?....

As my name suggests i own a 78 bronco sporting a 460, 6in lift 35/16/15 boggers l&l fenderexit headers,4.09front,4.11rear w/currie high pinion and 1 ton drive shafts ; I LOVE FORD.
I would like to see a Bronco with the excursion body shortened to two door, removable rear top, f350 running gear: 1 ton front&rear etc. driven by a 5.4, v10, or power stroke diesel, lots of noise but lots of power especially w/ banks kit. not too fancy interior, keep it simple... I would buy it.
FORD ROCKS...

Aim,
Your response is a real reality wakeup. You're exactly right. We don't know if Ford will EVER bring the Bronco back, so maybe the best thing we can do is to maintain the ones we've got. Mine's an 87, and I love it.

Hello,
I am a fellow Bronco owner (87 XLT) I dream of 2 versions of the bronco... the older 66-77 models (I have actually drawn a nice prototype of one.. havent scanned in yet) and the 80-96 models.
here is a remake of the late model broncos
[link:www.mybigbronco.com/bigred/futurebronco.bmp|Future bronco]
it is just a modified picture of a modified picture from one of the other posts... I found that the other modified pic was still to long and the hood was too big still.

FORD MUST BRING BACK THE BRONCO!!! THAT BLUE XL-type PICTURE YOU HAD LOOKS JUST LIKE THE NEW BRONCO I WANT!!!! NO FRILLS JUST 6.8LV-10 POWER, AND A CLOTH&VINYL FRONT BENCHSEAT! BLUE,WITH 16" BSW ALL-TERRAIN TIRES,AND A SET OF 16" SPORT WHEELCOVERS-COOL!!!What a mistake it was on FoMoCo's part to not include the EFI7.5L(4-6-0) on the 1987-1996 Bronco options list!!! DON'T WORRY,I'M CORRECTING THE SITUATION IN MY '90 XLT(it's getting a EFI460&E4OD). FORD NEVER LISTENS TO US! TO ALL THOSE "BEAN COUNTERS" AT GLASS HOUSE: YOU NEED TO BRING THE B-R-O-N-C-O BACK! PLEASE LISTEN TO YOUR V-E-R-Y LOYAL CUSTOMERS! If not, Thomas L. DeGideo II is content to buy '87-'96 year Broncos and swap EFI460 big-blocks into them. I understand the engineering department has it's collective hands tied....they do what they are told. They understand us....the front office-types DON'T!!! IF FORD WANTS ME TO BUY A NEW FORD VEHICLE,IT'LL BE A NEW BRONCO-END OF STORY!(between my Dad&I we've owned 4(YES F-O-U-R) fullsized Broncos since 1986.We had a '98 Expedition....that vehicle is okay, but no Bronco.Notice how he didn't bother to get a 2001 Expedition....TOO MUCH MONEY! Plus the damn thing didn't hold it's value. CAR-LIKE RIDES IN A TRUCK AREN'T IT! TRUCKS SHOULD RIDE LIKE,WELL...T-R-U-C-K-S! Thanks for letting me "vent". Take care.
