Bosch Wiper Blades

Same here...been an Anco user for years. I am itching to try the new Rain-X blades but it's not time yet.
Here's something to think about....I change blades every 6 months and I am usually NOT the guy saying ' damn, it's raining again and I forgot to get new wiper blades'. Most blades are designed to last about 6-9 months and that's about it unless you garage yours.

I installed a set of Bosch Icons just before winter and they are still performing just fine today.
Maybe the windshield is loaded up with road gunk and needs to be cleaned. I usually clean mine a couple of times a year with either Bon Ami or Bar Keepers Friend. It removes all the oils and crud.

I use tripple edge or some Teflon blades from Advanced. I've had triple edge blades on my truck for almost a year now and still work good. They are very tough. I bought a set of blades from Napa already and they came aprt in about a month and were not cheap. More expensive wiper blades don't seem to last for me.

I have seen that the Bosch Micros have a tendency to start chattering after not very much life. I have NOT seen the same to be true with the Bosch Icons. I've been using a set of Icons on my truck since last September, and they have held up betgter than any other blade I've ever had. Still get an excellent streak free wipe. Just put a set of 24's on my wifes /03 Excursion.

Usually chatter is from deposits on the glass. Often it is autowax either put on by you(No No) or a car wash. YOu would need to thoroughly clean the windshield and usually I also clean the wiper blade too. I usually use Alcohol on the blade.
When I lived in Oregon, I would go thru blades maybe every 2 years or so. Now that I am back in SoCal, I am not sure but I think ancient history for me is that blades last 2-3 years also even though I don't use them much here.
I put Rainx on all my windshields and never had problems with chattering. But I also often don't need wipers if I am running over say 40mph with clean glass and Rainx. Usually the Rainx wore out after getting a lot of road spray or using the wipers for a few hours. Then I just cleqan it with Rainx and go again.
I have not had good results with Rainx competitors, usually they smear or fog up on me.
I like Anco blades, never had much luck with Bosch. The teflon edged blades are OK but I usually find the teflon edge gets torn and strips off after maybe a year. Plain rubber seems to wear longer for me.
One cheap trick is to take off your new working blades in the dry season and put on some old blades you had saved from the last change. Usually in summer the old blades don't get used much and work well enough. Then come rainy season your "new" blades are still in good shape. You can often double the life this way, if you are cheap.
Good Luck,

I've got a couple of years on a set of Bosch Icons. I add rain-x to my washer fluid - helps with the chatter. I also use regular rain-x about every three months.
Anybody tried the Rain-X wiper blades yet?
They are a little pricey but, I'm temped to try a set on one of our trucks.
