It all started because some old techs found it was much easier to work on with the cab removed, Ford didnt want us to do it (worries about tweaking the cab) but we persisted. Now Ford has given us their blessing. Oh, for your information, its easier with a 7.3 or a 5.4 too! Dont hear anyone complaining about the design of those trucks, do you?

Well the warranty repairs only apply to the engine after 36 k so if your ac goes out at 46 k as mine did you have to pay for them to disassemble your truck to replace a ac hose it just POOR ENGINERRING no two ways about it. I jsut point these things out because most dont seem to understand how much it will cost you to keep the 6.4 on the road. all so the warranty will cost you a cool hundred every time you take it in after 36k. do what you want your money just dont cry when you have to drop a fortune into your truck with 40k on the clock, you were warned.

Don't ever buy a new vehicle, that is the answer! I don't give a rats A%# what brand you buy, nowadays with the technology in the vehicles not to mention the EPA/DOT requirements they all cost a fortune. We were warned to what? Buy a 70's or 80's era vehicle? Good advice!

NO thats not what I am saying at all, the cummins is a much better engine and if you cant wait for a new truck do what you have to do. You do know that by fords own admition the 6.4 is only going to be in the trucks for two years. then they are building there own engine for 2010.

Of course no matter what engine is in the 2010 Super Duty its going to be a pita to work on, the cab will have to come off and Ford won't stand behind it anyway.

Yes cause they are done dealing with International, they build their own engine and the whole battle over warranty work is gone, no more having to fight about it in court.

well all you have to do is go open the hood to a dodge and you will see it is possible to build a engine that you can work on with out pulling the cab

And what? You do know that Ford CANNOT afford to put a loser out there. So what you are saying is that they purposely put a loser out there. That means jack all. The rate at which technology changes you should not expect anything to remain the same for more than a couple of years. Have you ever stopped to think...(meaningful pause) that Ford may have decided that they can boost their profit margin by bringing some of the major cost items in-house? They certainly have the resources to build a motor. They now believe that they have the engineering ability to design AND build a motor rather than paying IH. Sounds to me like they are making a good business decision. What exactly does it matter to me if they change the motor in 3 years? The 6.4 will live or die on its own merits not its successor. If it turns out to be a great motor everyone will want it. If it turns out to be a stinker nobody will want it regardless of what is being built in 2010.
As far as the new Cummins goes, the jury is still out on the new Cummins. And how exactly do YOU decide it is a MUCH better motor? And even if we were to agree on that, which we definitely do not, the Cummins is still buried deep inside a turd.

THE question was.....does the 6.4 have a turbo lag and or slow excelleration compared to the 6.0. THE ANSWER IS NO.....I JUST DROVE A 6.4 TODAY IN AN F-350 CC SINGLE REAR WHEEL. THERE IS NO....NONE...NOT A HINT...NOTHING BUT POWER FROM THE INSTANT YOU STEP ON THE PEDDLE YOU MOVE OUT WITHOUT ANY SIGN OF HESITATION AT ANY SPEED OR FROM A STOP. INSTANT, QUIET, POWER.

100% right, put mine through the paces again, even though I do not like to push a 450 like that. It was very responsive. That is why Ford went to the twin turbo to get rid of that lag.
