Next meet ideas

Not to steal Joe's fire, but more of a topic and idea starter, lets discuss the next meet. Ok guys for everyone who was at the meet or who missed it some ideas were discussed for the next meet. I know Joe wanted to try to make it somewhere closer for somewhere closer for our notrhern and western members, and I must say I agree completely. Some ideas that were brought up were......

1. Get together and shoot some clay pigeons
2. Camping trip
3. In a state park for a picnic type atmosphere
4. Cabela's is never bad to wander in
5. I know some state game land and state forest fire roads near Cabela's
6. The Yuengling brewery is also not far from Cabela's, and the free tour is worth it.
7. Joe's wife Tina had said someone "may" be able to get us access to state land to wheel, I don't know any more details on that.

Thats what i've heard, and some of my own ideas. Now lets get some response on those, and if you have something else, don't be shy, post it up!

You aren't stealling my fire Scott, this is a members forum and club, I just direct traffic.
They are great ideas, a more active meet. The restaurant parking lot thing is okay for an initial ice breaker but we have an active bunch in our chapter and the region who like to do things. I will post the poll for the clay shoot and see what the response is, if the turnout looks good then we will set the date and location. Anyone who has ideas for the location post in this thread, after a few spots are picked I will call and negotiate the costs. Also, should it be a one day affair or an overnight, campout or hotels?

Cabela's sounds like a great idea. Along with doing a clay shoot, and I don't know if you guys had this in mind also, I'd like to just do regular high-powered rifle or .22 target shooting. Since I don't have a shotgun I've never shot trap/skeet and I'm just not a big fan of borrowing other people's guns.

Weed's who says you can't shoot clays with a 22. I always borrow someone else's gun, since they don't let me have one of my own.

Joe, if you can hit clay pigeons with a 22, you're my hero. Besides, if we have a clay shoot meet, maybe that'll just gimme a reason to go buy a shotgun, haha.

I can't even hit them with the shotgun weeds, I just like to hear the gun go boom. You need an excuse to buy a shotgun? Careful there you may lose your man club membership. We are men, that is all the excuse we need.

I like the high power target idea, as I just bought a new Marlin 30/30 and it's still in the box. I also really want to wheel my Ranger off the beaten path just to see what she can really do, there's just no place around my house I can do it.

I wouldn't really need an excuse to just get a shotgun, but I'm trying to build up a target rifle so I'd need an excuse to put money towards a shotgun rather than that. My rifle right now is a Savage 10FP in .223, with a Nikon 6.5-20x44 Monarch. Next add-on is a Harris bipod and maybe a sling if I get into free-hand shooting.

That looks like a pretty good place Roy. Wheeling and camping on the same grounds, price isn't bad either. It's really not that far from me, 2 hours. My wife has never been camping, I may be able to get her to go for this.

If we make a weekend of it then the Western members may be more inclined to take the drive.

There is a spot about 35 miles from there that we could also do a clay shoot. Have a day of wheeling and a day of shooting.

I just looked and realized that I forgot paragon (let's all hope for their fair treatment in this lawsuit/ court preceedings), and rausch creek. Oop's my bad. In a month or so I should have the Jeep ready to wheel, but the truck will still be employed to drag it there! I like the shooting clays idea also. One thing to look into with rausch creek is if they allow drinking in their campground, I know paragon does NOT allow it. Not that I want to get drunk, but whats a campfire if you can't sit back and have a beer or two?

I would DEFINETLY be up for ANYTHING in the area of Cabelas. My campground is only 10 minutes from there I could take my wife to the trailer and then she couldn't &^)()) at me for going out. LOL

Seriously Cabelas works for me!

I might even be interested in clay shooting.
You all might just say ya-ya, but alky and guns don't mix to well with no controls in place at the site used.
Range officer operation should be considered any place used to shoot or some one may get hurt.
I don't know what is in mind but just commenting.
Everybody doesn't have experience at this for safety and handling guns.
.
I have a nice double hanmmerless that needs to be tried out along with a new Rem. rep. cap and ball pistol.
Last shot the cap and ball up where the 5 guys shot at a range in the Poconos and were caught planning an assault on Ft. Dix.
