4x4 dashlight

I recently purchased a 1986 Ford Bronco the 4x4 dashlight would not come on i traced it to a broken wire off the sensor on the transfer case.
I spliced the wire back together with solder and now the light stays on all the time even if the transfer case is in neutral what would be my problem ?

ground the wire that connects to the sensor and see if light goes on. if so, it is probably a bad sensor.
