Removing the Liquid Line to access the Orifice Tube

<title></title><meta name="GENERATOR" content="OpenOffice.org 2.0 (Linux)"><meta name="AUTHOR" content="Garrett Hawthorne"><meta name="CREATED" content="20060915;9063700"><meta name="CHANGED" content="16010101;0"> <style> <!-- @page { size: 8.5in 11in; margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } --> </style> I'm trying to replace the orifice tube in my 91 f-150 and I know it is located in the inlet to the evaporator, but I can't figure out how to disconnect the liquid line from the evaporator inlet, so I can get the orifice tube out. The connection doesn't seem to be threaded, no sign of a snap ring, and I hesitate to give it the "just pull really hard" method of disassembly until understand how it is connected. Can anyone explain to me how to remove the liquid line from the evaporator, or point someplace that might?

Thanks

Thanks, once I knew what type of connector it was (I hadn't dealt with these before) I was able to look up info on how it worked and fab a disconnect tool for it from plumber's tape. Everything came apart fine, now its off to the parts store for parts and vacum pump. Hopefully I'll have A/C working by this evening.

I have opened the orifice tube connection by removing the slide on metal retaining clip then using one of the those round plastic ring tools . I got it apart an I notic the little white reatining ring fell down to the lower side of the connection and is somewhat distorted . It does not hold very well . Do I need to get another one ( where ? ) or will the metal retaining clip holdbe good enough to maintain the seal under pressure ? - Thanks
