hey guys,
i was wondering if anyone could tell me what size wheels and tires were factory on my 87 bronco. i bought it about a year ago, and it had american racing wheels and 31-10.50r15lt firestone firehawks 45 on it.i really don't trust these wheels and wanted to put stock steel wheels on it. mind also has no lift kits on it. i know they look good but i would just feel better if they were steel. if anybody has any feedback on this i will thank you in advance, thanks.

Factory rims came in two styles:stamped steel(base models&some xlts'),and styled steel "deluxe" wheels.The size for both was 15X8,but I think back in '87,they were also in the 15X7 size.A good reference to see what your Bronco originally came with would be the decal inside the driver's side door jam.Either that,or look in a 1987 Bronco brochure,or owner's manual.Ford offered the 31X10.5-15s as an option.Standard tire size for '87 Broncos(in most cases...),I think,were P235/75-15s. To see what tires your '87 came with from the factory,just refer to that decal.Hope this helps.

 

 

Not to steer you in a completely different direction, but I would keep the aluminum wheels. Here's why:

*I believe they have a warranty from American Racing. I had a set of steel AR wheels, one cracked. I called the 800 number, and they sent me a new one free of charge. If they are advertised as Light Truck wheels, they will more than hold up to your 31's.

*They are MUCH lighter. The power loss in going back to steel will be noticable. (I went from steel to Aluminum and noticed the increase)

*Spend money on something else!
