How about the anti-knock sensor. Are you sure on the timing? I think I read that timing can be plus or minus 3 degrees.

Sometimes when changing timing it affects engine idle, and the difference in idle speed will make s small exhaust leak near the manifold more apparent.

Hey, when I timed my 89XLT, 302, There's a little a plug on the end of a wire next to you ac compressorand your throttle body. It kind of looks like it does nothing. You need to unplug this when you do you initial timing. When your done, this plug or "pip" will advance your timimg 1 degree I think. Make sure you pull out that plug when you do your timing.
