make sure when the tools are pressed in they go at an angle with the tips going slightly away from the chassis of the radio, when they slide in till they click, push the tips TOWARD the radio...there are clips on the side of the radio you're trying to press down to allow it to pass thru the dash opening and a lot of the time you can actually get the tools between the clips and the radio instead...thanks ford!

Good luck. I switched out my radio and it was an hour and a half of sweating and cussing with a Macguyvered wire hanger. It was definitely a test of will. Once you get it out and look at the clips, you'll think "THAT's all that was holding them in?" It's been a couple years, but someone posted a good how-to. I'll see if I can find it...

The radio is amazingly simple to get out, but it's even simpler if you have the special tools. The special tools are nothing but horseshoe shaped thing-a-ma-jigs you stick in the holes. Once in the holes push the left horseshoe in the left 2 holes outwards to the left, and push the right horseshoe in the right 2 holes outwards to the right..... while pulling the radio out.
It can be done with 4 finish nails, but like I said, it's easier with the special tools.
Once you learn the trick it's liking riding a bicycle..... you jump on and never recall how many times you were frustrated and crashed.

just go to autozone or pepboys they are like 3 bucks
I tried the nail way, i tried the coathanger method, after fiddling with it and hoggin' out my 4 holes, I finally just bought the dang tools lol.
Came out it like 2 seconds
Just remember to make sure the white plastic piece on the bottom is threaded through the metal holder thing. It'll make sense when you see it lol
