4L head gasket leak

Hey guys,

I have a 95 Exp, 4L pushrod. #4 cylinder is dead. I have spark and gas. I hooked up air hose to #4 plug hole and under pressure it forces water up slowly out of the radiator fill hole. Can this be anything other than a bad head gasket or cracked head? Want to make sure before I start tearing into it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

That is a good indicator that the head gasket is bad, once you have both heads off get them tested for cracks, dont cheap out or you will be doing it again soon.

If the heads ar OK, do a complete rebuild on them, you will be much happier when you are done.

Thanks for the reply,a20. That's what I thought. Looks like I've got plenty to do this weekend.

Just take the time to be meticulious with the cleaning of surfaces and setting of gaskets. You will need a good inch/lb and a ft/lb torque wrench.

Good luck!
