bts tranny

I am looking into getting a bts tranny, i have the valve body now and works great but i would like the insurance of knowing i can work my truck a little and not worry about the tranny. Can anyone tell me what all bts does to there trannys to make them so bulletproof? What parts they use, what torque converter and all the other parts and things they do to them to make a solid tranny? Thanks

I'll bet that some of those "things" are proprietary to Brian. He doesn't need to advertise the individual good parts. It's the final complement of all the good stuff that makes his reputation what it is. And it's more than just stronger parts, too.

If he told everybody all that he does, he sure wouldn't have the business he has now, and he'd have a LOT more competition from every tranny rebuilder that wanted into this market.

But, if you're having him build one for you, you can stand right there and watch his every move. He'll explain it all along the way.

The 'justified cost' is the return of a trouble free investment.

Have you priced a Suncoaster or a Jim Would transmission? Brian's transmissions are actually affordable compared to those and the "BTS experience," you won't get that anywhere but BTS.

There are threads all over about these people, you simply won't be going wrong.
Go ahead, call Patty and make an appointment or talk with Brian for yourself, he'll justify the cost to you.

I'm sure kris will have lots of good things about his new tranny to justify the cost when he gets back. I hadn't priced any others, i know i want a bts from reading on here for a year and a half. Just need that last little push since my tranny isn't really bad right now but don't want to have to worry about loosing a tranny. Thought maybe if i could price the parts and see how much they cost it would justify me making a phone call to brian or cale.

I bet if you watched Brian take your tranny apart, you'd be suprised how it looks on the inside...probably worse than it feels. Brian's stuff comes from years of building and learning. There's stuff he does that you can't purchase, as there's some custom things in there. For someone to individually do what he does, it would probably cost more than a BTS trans. Everything inside is new though, clutches, steels, planetary gears, pump, torque converter, etc... About the only thing reused is your case, which gets cleaned and a fresh coat of paint.

I can personally attest to the shiny tranny pan.

I was standing there outside the Magic Room as Brian stuffed the transmission. Basically when he put it on the stand, he said "don't get between me and this trash can". Every steel and clutch was trashed, every hard part was taken out, not examined at all, but set on a pile. With the condition of my forward clutch pack he said i was very lucky that i got here driving, it was that bad. If the electronic sensors were not bad, oh well pull them out and throw it in the trash. He almost filled a whole trashcan of parts. Pull the case out and steam clean machine does it's job, paint it silver so the alum. won't corrode, and reinstall new parts. Rumor has it that if a part has broken on his transmission, he makes it better and stronger. Purple PI Stallion TC torque converter, and reinstalls it. I even had a problem with my brand new transmission, so at 7:30 PM he pulls it out and fixes it. Trans back in at 10:00 and he still wants to go buy me dinner.

But, don't plan on doing anything else but BTS while you are in Lead Hille

Kris, glad to hear you got the new tranny in and running. What kind of difference can you tell so far? Is there less slippage when you take off? Have you done any boost launches with it yet? Hope your having a good trip.

I've had my BTS trans installed (with a 6.0L trans cooler) for the last 18-20 months.
Night and Day difference over stock (I toasted the stocker within 38,000 miles or so).

I run 38-40" tires and can easily break them loose with the BTS putting the power of my TS Performance chip to the ground.

BTS was definately one of the best mods I made to date....and I have a lot of mods

I wish I could have made the trip down to watch Brian install it....but I didn't trust the trans driving 600+ miles there so I had it shipped up to me. My stock trans was toast and was slipping horribly in any gear anytime I got on the skinny pedal a little hard.

If you have a 6 Position chip, you can have Cale supply you with some burns for the BTS.

My goal this year is to save a little on the side each week so I can treat myself to a trailer tow and camp ground stay close to BTS. The pull back should be better than...well, the pull down.

What is the approximate cost of a BTS trans? With a new TC. I would like to start saving now as well.

Great irony, Kris, with his gazillion posts, was one of the people talked me into the BTS. One of many, but one I recall. Now he gots one!
I'm reminiscing about Goodfellas now where the guy gets out of jail and all the boys are standing around and big Pauli slaps him on the shoulder and says "ya busted your cherry!" and they're all cheerin for him
Ahh.
Ya feel like ya just got made, doncha?
