Uh huh...How do you know that? Ever driven or raced a Titan?
...one tune from Stillen, and you'll be lookin for more than a tune from matt.
My friend,
Our Ultra Comp files turn consistent 5.0 0-60 times during a powerbraked 4x4 launch in Crew Cab Short bed trucks.
The Supercharged Nissan's are claiming 420 RWHP (according to Motor Trend). We produce 445-450 RWHP depending upon calibration and well over 200 ft-lbs that the Nissan does not have. Tuning will put a 6.0 in the mid to high 13-second quarter mile range- The Titan claims a 14.5.
So, to put it breifly- the tuned 6.0 will produce ~30+ HP and ~200 lb-ft more, 3/4 of a second in the quarter mile and around a 1 second 0-60 quicker over the Titan.
Not to mention, the Stillen Supercharger is a $4,700 modification... our tuners are a $450 one Shall we throw 4250 more dollars at the SD and watch the fireworks?
I'm not Matt nor am I a Powerstroke expert, but...
If all your adding is programming then I'd have to say, no you don't need headstuds. Programming effects fueling and timing not boost. At least not directly. If you add a larger TC that segnificantly increases your boost then yes.
My diesel knowledge is limited to Cummins and even that is not expert.
It's very "easy" to write programming for a stock motor that will require more than studs and with the VGT turbo you do control boost with programming. That's not to say that they're safe tunes though. You don't have to have studs to run any program, but if you have the means or opportunity then definitely put head studs in.
Hey Matt would I need headstuds to run the ultra comp files and how much more power are they as say to the SC extreme file .
Our Ultra Comp makes the "SC Extreme" look like a playtoy. As far as head studs are concerned; While they are not absolutely neccessary to run the file, it is more than advisable. Some trucks will handle the file just fine (a good majority) but if there are any flaws in the head seal whatsoever, rest assured the Ultra Comp will probably take them out.
I got headstuds with mine, but im a little bit of a speed demon and terrorize everything!!! lol But like matt said that ultra comp is alot faster than a xtreme race program

I have a Titan SE king cab 2wd, with tow package and an AFE cold air. My buddy has a 7.3 2wd extra cab with a programmer, exhaust, cold air. Anyway we were leaving the lake, both towing our jet ski's and I had no problem putting 2 truck lengths on him with quickness. He's run 15.3 in the 1/4 mile in his truck, and I've never run mine at the track. We both raced our 5 liter mustangs together and thought what the hell with the trucks. He was very surprised what the Titan had in it. You guys might want to check out Titantalk.com as there are guys who have trucks that'll be more comparable. Once modified anything goes, so imo there's no fair ground. I know there are small shot of nitrous (50-75 hp) Titan's running well into the 13's and they respond very good to exhaust as well. A set of steeper gears would help a lot and better tires. Anyway, the thread title caught my interest and now I need to get back to looking at the 6.4 forum and see if I wanna switch trucks yet.
Why are you 6.0L guys worried anyways....???? My old bone stock (except straight pipe) 7.3L dually weighing in at nearly 8000lbs can hang with a hemi in a durango, and not get beat by more than a car length in just under a qrtr mile by a nissan. When i marked up against my buddies stock 6.0L he cleaned my ass. Stock 6.0L to stock nissan i'll bet on 6.0L(or any other gas truck for that matter IMO) modified 6.0L vs modified nissan look the hell out nissan.
