Question Stuck Rotors

Had to replace one of the front caliper's today, so decided to tried to remove my rotors (and replace them with power slots rotors and Hawk Performance pads), but for some reason I could not get the front rotors to loosen and pull off. I put penetrating oil arround the inner edge and the lug studs holes. Pounded the snot out of the rotors and they would not budge. Since it was Friday the 13th, I decided not to torch the rotors since I did not want the fire dept over to hose down the truck after it burns up.

What do you do to get the rotors off?

Note: the rotor's inner edge seems to be mated with the hub, I thought it was starting to budge, but never did. I was worried that all the pounding on the rotors would kill the hub somehow. And I rather not have to replace it.

I don't really know the answer but that my driver side had/has the same problem. So I decided to leave it alone for the time being.

Try this... Remove the caliper assembly and set it on a bucket (upside down bucket, and it is easier if you disconnect the ABS line from the knuckle by removing the 8mm bolt) placed to the back side of the axle. I know we're in the rust belt, so just be patient. Try tapping or not so tapping the face of the rotor with a rubber or plastic sand filled mallet. Alternate your impacts across from the last. It will come off....just be patient...Try spraying "PB Blaster" that stuff seems pretty strong.

Also, once I got them off, a while back when doing my ball-joints, I put a little grease on the back of them so they'd be easier to get off. Just so happens I did my rotors/pads tonight and they all but fell of when I removed the caliper assembly.

Maybe letting the penetraiting oil and the heat from operating the brakes will help loosen the rotors enough so when I start banging away at the rotors again, it will start to come off. I just hate banging at the rotors not knowing what it is doing to the hub assembly.

Iv always just hit the rotor from behind. But Iv never thought about the impact that may be having on the hub like you said, but Iv never had any problems. Also like Orezona said once you do get them off and clean up the rust use some grease or antiseize around the center of the hub. Good luck
