Truck beeps at me 25 times

Everytime i start the truck, it beeps at me 5 times, then pauses for a second or two, then beeps 5 more times. It goes through this loop 5 times, for a total of 25 beeps. It has been doing this for a few years now, and it is starting to drive me crazy. It will even do it if i drive for more than 20 miles or so, it will go through the beeps while i'm driving. I know it is not the door chime. The sound is coming from the passenger side, in the cab, and i think its behind the plastic panel in the footwell to the right of the glove box.

95 Ranger XL, 3.0L, 4x4

Anyone have any idea's what this is, and how i can stop it?

Red face

Hi shadyEats,

I think pgw85706 is on track and I will also add that the connection that is suppose to be made to stop that annoying ding-a-linging in your truck is partally connecting @ start-up & internittantly disconnecting on the run and if you ranger is like mine...rust-o-plenty-a mundo!

I'll check it out in the morning and see if that works. I live in a dry area, so my Ranger does not have a rust problem, but the paint on the hood peels like a GM!

haha my truck does the same thing... I know what it is but can't find what i need to fix it. I hooked a scan tool up to it and it says i have an open ground in my SRS system(airbags). I couldn't find an open but the scan tool says its there. And that is the most annoying beep ever!!! look in your manual under warning chimes and you will see a thing that talks about the airbags and how often and how many times it beeps. fits the description perfect.

ford_racing_4_life, i think you might have solved it. The airbag was blown in the truck before i bought it.

Anyone got any ideas how to fix this without buying an airbag? they are over $500 last time i checked years ago.

After being pointed in the right direction by ford_racing_4_life, i searched this site and found the problem. Burnt-out airbag warning light. I love it when it costs less then a dollar to fix something.

Airbags came to mind here, too. I think your truck is not beeping 5 times, it's beeping 3+2 times. 32 means air bag problem.
Supporting evidence: I disconnected the airbag in my race car (92 Mustang) and he either (depending on his mood I guess) flashes the air bag light 3+2 times, or beeps exactly how you described.

p.s. I will be removing a "blue box" when I pull my dash again to get rid of my heater core & ducting & install gauges. Apparantly this will fix the problem. For your application, being a street truck, I guess you will still want your airbags to work?

air bag

I picked up a set of replacement airbags for my ford escort form a local junkyard for around $200. I believe they were used but checked out by a repair shop. Did not have much of a choice as I could not get an inspection sticker without it.

5beeps 5times

I have a 2002 Ranger with 4.0 sohc. the other day I started it and after about 5 seconds it started beeping. 5beeps 5times, no lights on dash. Got on this web site and red a couple of posts about this problem. Went out and disconnected the wires under seat and reconnected. Started truck, and no more beeps. Something to try. Worked for me.

I have a 1998 F150 that is having this problem. Are the wires under the driver seat or the passenger seat? Because I don't have any wires under the passenger seat, only under the driver seat. Should there be wires under the passenger seat?
