1963 Econoline van

I just go a 1963 econoline van with 170 with 3 speed, The exhaust manifold is cracked and i was wondering if they made a header for this and is there a 2 barrel intake that would fit it , just trying to get a little more out of the 170, it was rebuilt 5,000 miles ago, i am going to switch it over to syenthetic oil.
it has some rust on the lower panel on the drivers side, does anyone make reproduction body parts for the econoline, Mine is a panel with only the back door windows,....also i need a hinge or a hinge pin kit for the drivers side back door

Cracked exhaust manifold..LOL...that's nothing new on these engines. The good news is, they've been reproduced, mainly because they fit early 1965 Mustangs, which used the 170 engine till 8/23/1964. Be careful if you find a used one, the one for the 200 6 cylinder engine looks similar but it will NOT work. FTE sponsor Dennis Carpenter prolly has the manifold, but check with FTE sponsor y2kfordparts first, y2k is a Ford Dealer, and they may be able to get it also, and they give FTE members a discount. The numbers I listed are the actual Ford parts numbers.

C2GZ-9430-A .. Exhaust Manifold~Fits all 144/170 6 cylinders.

The back door hinges are different upper and lower. They are used on all the 1961/67's.

C1UZ-8926801-B .. Left Upper Door Hinge

C1UZ-8926811-A .. Left LowerDoor Hinge

Originally these came with the hinge pins. The hinge pins were also available as a separate part (C1UB-8922840-A). The hinge pins are the same for all the hinges (2 9/16"-length), but must be trimmed to fit the front doors (2 1/16").

The hinges are prolly junkyard only. The back door hinges are the same as used on the side doors.

cracked manifolds are very common on econo's and early small sixxes. macs, dearborn classics, northwest classic falcon, and several of the others carry a brazilian manifold. they are much heavier built and reinforced where it counts.
the 2 barrel manifold is not real a manifold at all, small six manifolds are integral to the head. you can put a 2 barrel adaptor on, or there are a few 3-1barrel kits floating around at swap meets and such. they require cutting into the manifold log and fitting a flange to it tho.

hinges are rare on ebay, and good ones are even rarer at that. the pins can be replaced, but it is not a job for the faint of heart! i have used heat with some success, heat and a hammer with little succes, heat and a press with some succes. the pins seem to become part of the hinge at somepoint in their life! drilling is almost a certain trip after a new hinge too! seems the pins are quite a bit harder than the hinge body itself.

body panels are few and far between, mostly rear wheel lip sections, and the drivers side lower side panel. a donor is about the only way to go for panels.

i put a late 70s granada head on mine about 10 yrs ago & never looked back, engine cools soooo much better with it that cracked manifolds are a thing of the past or at least a thing of 10 plus yrs ago, i believe the cooling passages are larger & allow for better water circulation, bonus is also getting bigger valves which can handle the unleaded fuel, and the manifolds both look to be slightly larger.

I bought for my econo truck hinge pins through Dennis Carpenter. Check online his business and he has a catalog online with parts he supplies.
Panels are not a big ticket thing. They should make front panels for a lot of them get quite damaged are better to replace. The rockers below the front doors are another place that rust out. The box around the gas tank filler tend to rust out bad also. I wish they made these. But I have to search or make my own.
Some of the FTE sponsors have panels that you can order. Dennis Carpenter also makes a lot of rubber components for our Econolines.
