Question where do people off road?

I was just wondering where all the people on here go offroading. I live in ventura and go up the 5 to the hungry valley OHV park, AKA gorman, but i was wondering if there are any other places closer or farther that they like to frequent. I also know there is a Drag strip in Azusa, or Irwindale actually, and about the LACR out in Palmdale. But is there anywhere else? so cal is a big place there must be more adventure out there somewhere!!

I'm also in Ventura. Don't do any off roading though. Ever take West Camino Cielo Road? I goes from the 154 along the top of the ridge to Refugio Canyon north of Santa Barbara. Ocean on one side, Santa Ynez Valley on the other

Trail Rides in Idylwild and Big Bear....Open Desert out in Barstow specifically Stoddard Wells area...theres trails up to Skyline out near Carona.....more desert out near Blythe....and Mojave such as Red Rock.....theres a ton of other places that I can think of but those are off the top of my head. Most of these places are either free or darn near free to get into and use....some of them like Stoddard are even used for the offroad race circuit. Hardly any of them though will show up if you try to Google or Yahoo them...these are all places Ive heard about of found from word of mouth or just by happy accident haha.

ah gees man i wanna try these places! i actually, now that you mention it, have been to red rock canyon (or whatever its called) out by mojave, thats a decent place, and its free if i remember correctly, but some open desert, that i can practice baja in, would be IDEAL, is that what its like out near blythe and stoddard?

Mostly out in Stoddard yeah....like I said they use it to hold a race in every now and again....pretty easy terrain but as always you have to have the right equipment to do it safe...I've gotten my 04 up to 80 out there on a nice flat road and its basically stock lol.

Stoddard Wells Road runs through Johnson Valley. You can use the whole area from Stoddard Wells Road to Barstow for some high speed running. Check Google for MDR, Mojave Desert Racing and they will have track maps you can go fast on. Gorman is a great place for 4 wheelin, but not for high speed running. El Mirage dry lake and it's surrounding area is a good place to run at speed but gets a little crowded on the weekends. The back roads to Big Bear from Hesperia are really fun roads. Check a AAA map of San Bernardino Mountains for the back roads on the north side of the lake by Fawnskin.

Red face More on wells

its off the 15 fyi. And its all diff terrain out there. you can race or mud bog at the right times in the hills or rock climb. off stoddard there is also a race track like a real one for bikes and go carts might be for more but its a thin track. when you get off the 15 keep going it gets better the further you go when it turns into dirt go like 3 miles out and there are awsome hills you can explore.

The last time (and only time so far) I went off-roading was in Miller Canyon. South of Barstow, just off the I-15. It is just east of Silverwood Lake and I did it in a 4x4 Blazer (not the one in my sig) which turned out to be 2 wheel drive because the PO had removed the front driveshaft, and I was to trusting to check. Still had a blast though, and never got stuck.

Smile Huge Offroad Jamboree This Weekend!!

some buddies of mine sponsor an 'offroad jambo' out in johnson valley every year - and NOW is the time.

starts tomorrow - and runs all weekend.

theres group trail runs (night runs too!) - raffles - tons of cool peeps & the serene beauty of clean open space......basically anything and everything you can do offroad with a nice bunch of outdoorsy folks.

if youre interested i'll post the directions.

rock on.

Now that definitely looks like fun! Can't wait to sell the Blazer and buy a 4x4 Ranger! Where is this place? Can't go this weekend, but maybe sometime in the future.
